Descrição

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].

The Role

General Motors is going through a significant technology transformation, and Core IT is at the center of it. This role leads the financial management function for the full Core IT portfolio, which spans networking, client engineering, collaboration, software developer experience, platforms, and on-premise infrastructure. You will own forecast and budget governance, drive the SAP/PO process end-to-end, and build the analytics and reporting infrastructure that gives leadership clear, accurate visibility into $800M+ in annual technology spend.

This is a high-visibility role that requires both sharp financial acumen and the operational judgment to work across a large, matrixed organization. You will manage a team, partner closely with Finance, Procurement, and supplier-facing functions, and play a central role in establishing financial controls and governance practices that scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Core IT budget and forecast process across all technology categories, including networking, client engineering, collaboration, software developer experience, platforms, and on-premise infrastructure
  • Lead the SAP/PO process for non-people technology spend, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across approximately 350 supplier relationships
  • Build and maintain financial reporting mechanisms that give leadership real-time visibility into spend performance, variances, and risks
  • Partner with IT Finance and Procurement to drive alignment on actuals, commitments, and accruals; identify and close gaps before they escalate
  • Develop and operationalize automated reporting and analytics processes to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy
  • Manage and develop a team of financial analysts, setting clear expectations and building capability in financial modeling, process discipline, and stakeholder communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for budget escalations, finance queries, and variance explanations across the Core IT portfolio
  • Support planning cycles including annual operating plans, mid-year reforecasts, and executive-level financial reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial controls and compliance practices across the portfolio
  • Collaborate with Software Asset Management, Vendor Management, and Procurement to ensure financial data integrity across contract and supplier systems

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in financial management, budgeting, or technology finance, with demonstrated ownership of large, complex portfolios
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven experience managing a team, with a track record of developing analysts and holding a team accountable to deadlines and quality standards
  • Deep proficiency with SAP, including the PO and invoicing process in a large enterprise environment
  • Strong command of financial modeling, variance analysis, and forecast methodology
  • Experience with enterprise reporting tools and a working knowledge of data analytics; ability to design and interpret dashboards and financial summaries
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a matrixed organization and manage relationships across Finance, IT, and Procurement stakeholders
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; comfort working with large datasets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial complexity into clear, concise summaries for senior leadership

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
  • Experience with technology spend governance frameworks, including software asset management, telecom expense management, or contract lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow SPM, Databricks, or similar enterprise planning and analytics platforms
  • Experience building or maturing financial controls and compliance practices in a technology organization
  • Background in showback or chargeback model design and implementation
  • Exposure to IT procurement and vendor management processes, including supplier performance and contract governance
  • Experience supporting or leading financial transformation initiatives, including automation of manual reporting processes
  • Strong GM knowledge, including familiarity with GM financial systems, governance processes, and organizational structure
