Work Arrangement : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Grand Rapids Operations on a full-time basis.
Candidate must be available to be assigned to any shift; overtime is expected.
The Role:
The career level Manufacturing Engineer-Gear Machining will be skilled in manufacturing equipment, tooling and process improvements, and overall manufacturing process support. The work is performed in a manufacturing environment where innovation, creativity and initiative are used to support current manufacturing operations. The work will be focused on hypoid bevel gear machining and grinding.
What You’ll Do:
Responsible for supporting activities that may include:
· Research and implement innovative technologies and/or processes
· Ensure all manufacturing technical documentation is up to date.
· Provide technical direction and oversight of internal resources and external vendor resources.
· Assist team members in problem solving and improving overall equipment efficiency.
· Provide day-to-day support of manufacturing operations and maintenance.
· Work with cross functional team members to resolve issues related to quality, process, and equipment.
· Participate in identifying and resolving safety and ergonomics issues.
· Facilitate and/or train team members and maintenance personnel. Develop training manuals as needed.
· Participate in planning and coordination activities to ensure all project tasks are completed within prescribed time frame and budget parameters.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
· Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
· 5+ years of experience in engineering support role in a manufacturing environment
· Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing
· Prior experience with CNC machining and or programming
· Previous experience with computer- based office and engineering software, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
· Ability to work off shifts and weekends as well as overtime as needed
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
· Knowledge of high-volume precision grinding and machining
· Knowledge of hypoid bevel gear manufacturing
· Knowledge of SolidWorks
