Descrição

The Role

We are building a new Vehicle Analytics & Insights team within GM’s Vehicle Product organization, and this role is an early hire on that team. As a Senior Product Data Scientist, you will help product teams make better decisions through clear metrics, trusted data, and actionable insights about how customers use and experience GM’s in-vehicle products.

You will work at the intersection of vehicle data, product strategy, and user behavior. In this role, you’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to advise on product success metrics, improve instrumentation, analyze customer behavior, and translate data into insights that shape product decisions.

This is a strong fit for someone who wants to be a hands-on senior individual contributor: someone who can independently own analytics for a product pillar, initially focusing on the highest-priority products within that pillar, influence roadmaps through data, and help build strong analytical habits within a growing team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own product analytics for a vehicle product pillar, becoming a trusted partner to product, engineering, and design across a portfolio of related experiences, with initial focus on the highest-priority products.

  • Advise and consult with product teams as they define product success metrics, KPI frameworks, and analytical approaches that connect customer behavior to product and business outcomes.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape instrumentation requirements, clarify what data should be captured, and help ensure implementation quality and consistency.

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on customer journeys, engagement patterns, friction points, and feature adoption; turn complex behavioral data into clear findings and recommendations.

  • Build and maintain dashboards, recurring reporting, and self-serve analyses that help teams monitor product performance and make faster decisions.

  • Frame analytical findings into clear decision narratives, including tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Support experimentation, feature evaluations, and rollout measurement using sound statistical judgment.

  • Help improve data quality and analytical trust by identifying instrumentation gaps, validating core datasets, and partnering with teams to resolve issues.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or product analytics, ideally supporting software, digital, or user-facing products.

  • Strong SQL skills and a demonstrated ability to define trusted metrics, validate data, and diagnose data quality issues in complex data environments.

  • Strong experience using Python or a similar language for exploratory analysis, statistical analysis, experimentation, and workflow automation.

  • Experience performing product-focused analyses that influence roadmap, prioritization, feature design, or launch decisions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Product, Engineering, Design, and leadership stakeholders.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in product analytics or product data science for consumer software, platform products, connected devices, or automotive software.

  • Experience designing or evaluating experiments, feature rollouts, or other product measurement approaches in real-world settings.

  • Experience working with event-based instrumentation, behavioral data, and customer journey analytics.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments where processes are still being defined.

  • Experience with causal inference is a plus.
