Descrição
The Role
The Senior Electrical Systems Analysis (CAE) Engineer plans, develops, and executes one‑dimensional models of electrical components, subsystems, and full vehicle or product electrical architectures for 12V/48V systems. The role requires deep understanding of system‑ and vehicle‑level electrical behavior and proficiency with industry‑standard simulation tools. You will perform simulations, interpret and present results at key program milestones, and work cross‑functionally to drive robust designs and close analysis capability gaps.
What You'll Do
- Plan, develop, and execute 1D models of electrical components, subsystems, and full vehicle or product 12V/48V architectures using Synopsys Saber and related tools.
- Develop and maintain physics‑based and co‑simulation models (including SiL) using MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, and FMUs to support controls development and calibration.
- Lead development of new analysis capabilities for 12V/48V systems (e.g., battery models, distribution models, aggregator and other key component models).
- Build vehicle or product electrical and battery electro‑thermal models to support virtual control strategies and calibration activities.
- Perform standard and advanced analyses (including charge balance, fail‑operational behavior, bus integrity, short‑circuit and component sizing) to deliver robust, reliable design solutions using optimization and statistical methods where appropriate.
- Work closely with suppliers to obtain and define requirements for high‑fidelity component models (e.g., battery, IBS, aggregator, CCU) and integrate them into system simulations.
- Collaborate with Electrical Architects, co‑simulation/SiL teams, Validation, Calibration, Design Release, and other CAE teams to ensure requirements are met, concepts are evaluated, and virtual development and validation plans are successful.
- Lead and conduct peer reviews of analysis work products; present results and recommendations to stakeholders at critical program gates (e.g., PPDRs, VVAs, peer reviews).
- Compare analysis results to test data, perform root‑cause analysis for discrepancies, identify modeling gaps, and lead capability projects to close those gaps.
- Ensure on‑time delivery of high‑quality analysis results that meet program and quality targets.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering or related
- 5+ years of engineering experience in design, analysis, or testing of 12V/48V electrical systems or components.
- Proficient with Synopsys Saber simulator and MAST modeling language, plus electrical data‑analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape.
- Skilled in developing models for Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SiL) simulations and co‑simulation using FMUs.
- Hands‑on experience with charge balance, fail‑operational strategies, bus integrity, short‑circuit behavior, and other 12V/48V component sizing analyses.
- Strong foundation in electric circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetics, electric drive systems, control systems, and digital signal processing.
- Experience in analytical modeling of electric generators, batteries, heating and cooling systems, lighting systems, and electronic controllers.
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills for both models and simulation environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document, present, and defend analysis methods and results to cross‑functional teams.
- Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Experience with development and use of CAE/CAD tools supporting electrical or multi‑physics analysis.
- Knowledge of lithium‑ion and other battery chemistries (e.g., lead‑acid), including cell‑level modeling and simulation.
- Experience with EMI/ESD and tools such as CST to perform virtual assessments
- Experience designing and implementing GUIs and core software for technical applications with schematic‑based interfaces.
- Experience applying AI/ML methods to modeling, analysis, or optimization of electrical systems.
