Descrição

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

As we advance toward our vision of ZERO emissions, ZERO crashes, and ZERO congestion, we are seeking a highly motivated and hardworking Program Validation & Safety Engineer (PVSE) to join our Global Product Validation Team.

Our mission is to deliver validated, regulatory compliant, and safe vehicles by proactively identifying and mitigating risks throughout the vehicle development process. In this role, you will be the digital and analytical backbone of the validation team. You will continuously transform our processes to maximize efficiency, build robust tracking mechanisms, and drive accountability using tools like Jira and Power BI. Your work will provide the PVSE organization with the data clarity needed to confidently assess DVUL and timely sign the Product Validation Completion Letter (PVCL).

What You'll Do

  • Data Analysis & Dashboard Creation: Develop, maintain, and optimize validation KPI dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Maxis) to track Program Validation metrics, and VDC readiness. Use Python and cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks) to automate data pipelines, perform advanced analytics, and enable AI-assisted insights that highlight trends, risks, and process bottlenecks for leadership review. Build and maintain Google Sheets–based tools (e.g., queries, pivot tables, formulas, and basic scripting/automation) to support rapid analysis and easy sharing of validation data. Maintain and update SharePoint sites, GDocs, and other data repositories with ILM requirements.

  • Jira & Workflow Management: Serve as the primary process administrator for the validation team. Create and manage Jira workflows, Kanban boards, story cards, and 30-60-90-day lookahead templates that allow Validation Owners (DREs/SIVEs) to easily status their tasks.

  • Process Creation, Training, and Optimization: Lead the development of validation standard work, training materials, and process "cheat sheets". Act as an educator to the broader team to ensure high adoption of new tracking systems, AI-assisted workflows, and data-driven decision tools. Champion continuous improvement efforts by applying Lean Six Sigma problem-solving and change management methodologies.

Key Deliverables

  • Optimized Validation KPI Dashboards (Power BI) and Jira Kanban Boards.

  • AI-enabled analytics and automation that reduce manual effort and improve risk visibility.

  • Continuous improvement and documentation of validation standard work and processes.

  • Google Sheets–based tools and templates that enable scalable, easy-to-maintain validation tracking.

  • Continuous improvement and documentation of validation standard work.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant technical, data analysis, or validation role (excluding co-op/internship experience).

  • High proficiency in Jira (workflow creation, board management) and Power BI (dashboard development, data modeling) .

  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or scripting.

  • Experience working with spreadsheet and collaboration tools such as Excel and Google Sheets to integrate, cleanse, and transform data from multiple sources.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to summarize complex information from multiple sources into actionable metrics and clear dashboards.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to propose process solutions using existing procedures.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with validation processes, regulatory compliance, or development vehicle usage levels (DVUL).

  • Familiarity with GM engineering systems and processes (PRTS, DVUL, ECR, SQMS, Maxis).

  • Experience identifying technical/timing risks and conducting critical path analysis using data-driven methods.

  • Experience with Databricks, cloud analytics, or similar platforms for large-scale data processing and model development.

  • Formal training or certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt or higher) and demonstrated application of continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Proven understanding of engineering organizations and the ability to collaborate with technical resources to resolve process differences.

  • Recognized as an innovative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player who thrives on bringing structure to ambiguous data.
