Staff Product Manager – AV Features

Why join us?

General Motors pioneers the innovations that move and connect people to what matters. We see a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.

Advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems are transforming the vehicle experience. Within GM’s Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Product Management organization, we define and deliver products that connect customer value, technical innovation, safety, quality, and business impact across GM’s vehicle portfolio.

Super Cruise is GM’s foundational hands-free driving technology. GM is continuing to advance this experience by developing compelling, scalable capabilities for a broader set of customers and vehicle programs.

The Role

We are looking for a Staff Product Manager to own the end-to-end vision, strategy, and roadmap for customer-facing AV features across vehicle programs, technology generations, operating domains, and markets. You will define what to build and why it matters to customers and GM, then translate customer needs, safety expectations, technical constraints, quality data, and business objectives into clear product priorities and requirements.

You will work closely with Product Capability, Systems Engineering, Autonomy Engineering, UX/HMI, Safety, Quality, Program Management, Marketing, and vehicle teams to deliver intuitive, trustworthy, and scalable customer experiences. Success requires strong product ownership, systems thinking, technical judgment, and the ability to influence across complex organizations from concept through launch and in-market improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for AV features across vehicle programs, balancing customer value, safety, technical feasibility, cost, quality, timing, and business objectives.

  • Translate customer insights, competitive intelligence, field feedback, telemetry, quality data, and business objectives into product requirements documents (PRDs), capability definitions, and roadmap priorities.

  • Partner with Product Capability, Systems Engineering, Autonomy Engineering, UX/HMI, Safety, Quality, and vehicle teams to define customer-facing experiences that are intuitive, understandable, and trustworthy.

  • Lead cross-functional planning and execution for feature launches, software releases, and in-market iterations, including rollout strategy, configuration, validation, and change management.

  • Define and monitor success metrics such as customer adoption, engagement, utilization, trust, quality, safety performance, and business outcomes; use research, experimentation, simulator and track studies, fleet data, and in-market insights to guide decisions.

  • Identify cross-product dependencies, critical risks, and opportunities, and drive mitigation, simplification, or course correction.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer and communicate product strategy, priorities, decisions, risks, and progress through clear, concise, data-informed narratives to working teams and senior leaders.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of product management or closely related experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex technology products or cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch and ongoing improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience defining product vision and strategy, building multi-year roadmaps, and translating strategy into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of advanced driver-assistance and automated-driving systems, or equivalent experience with complex hardware-software systems, including how system capabilities and dependencies combine to deliver a safe customer experience.

  • Ability to reason about vehicle, compute, sensing, software, HMI, and operational constraints and translate them into pragmatic product decisions.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across engineering, systems, design, safety, quality, program management, marketing, and business functions.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to derive actionable insights from customer research, simulator and track studies, fleet or telemetry data, qualitydata, and business analysis.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make principled decisions when information is incomplete or priorities conflict.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Direct experience shipping customer-facing advanced driver-assistance or automated-driving features in production vehicles, or comparable safety-critical products.

  • Experience with software-enabled vehicle products, over-the-air delivery, feature gating, staged rollouts, or fleet-scale product iteration.

  • Strong understanding of human cognitive load, situational awareness, driver trust, and human-machine interaction in automated-driving or hands-free experiences.

  • Experience leading products that integrate vehicle hardware, sensors, compute, HMI, embedded software, and companion or cloud services, with familiarity in safety-case development, validation, launch readiness, or regulatory requirements.

  • Experience evaluating product cost, hardware simplification, software reuse, platform scalability, system complexity, business cases, or go-to-market strategies.

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
