At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Chassis Structure Analyst to join our Chassis Systems and Driveline Virtual Design Development Validation (VDDV) team. This role is responsible for leading structural analysis activities for chassis structure, suspension, and driveline system, supporting design development and virtual validation through advanced simulation techniques.   You will play a critical role in connecting component-level physics to full-vehicle system performance, working across domains to ensure robust, optimized designs.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

The role will lead chassis and/or driveline analysis and virtual test activities in support of Body on Frame and rear wheel drive programs and technology development including:

  • Lead structural analysis of chassis structure, suspension, and driveline systems to support design development and virtual validation
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate strength, stiffness (static and dynamic), durability, and  noise and vibration
  • Conduct fatigue analysis and develop block cycle test profiles for chassis and suspension components
  • Work closely with design engineers to develop technical solutions for new components and systems
  • Specify and balance system-level requirements
  • Support component and subsystem test development, including issue root cause analysis and resolution
  • Lead project management activities for supplier-coordinated CAE efforts
  • Present analysis results and provide actionable recommendations during virtual design reviews
  • Actively participate in Product Development Teams (PDTs) for chassis structure, suspension, and steering
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Performance Integration Teams (PITs)
  • Participate in CAE focus groups and technical communities to drive the development of new CAE techniques and stay current with emerging tools and trends
  • Document and archive analysis results and models for traceability and reuse

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • BSE, BS in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in Computer Aided Engineer (CAE) roles

  • Must have three (3) years of experience in the following:

    • Linear Analysis

    • Non-Linear Analysis to assess system, subsystem, and component performance

  • Expertise with CAE analysis codes: NASTRAN, OptiStruct, Abaqus

  • High level of proficiency with CAE modeling tools: HyperWorks &/or ANSA preferred

  • Expertise with structural fatigue theory, tools, and methods: DesignLife/nCode preferred

  • Familiarity with CAE and CAD integration

  • High level of oral and written communication skills to effectively communication technical issues

  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence with application to structural designs
