描述

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid/remote

Role: As a Senior Systems Engineer, Fault Management, on the Software Validation team within the autonomous vehicle (AV) organization, you will play a critical role in leading the strategy and execution of requirements development, system design and validation efforts for fault management functions in autonomy software. You will leverage your systems engineering experience to conduct analyses for mitigating safety risks early in the design process. You will quickly prototype effective validation methods, gain cross-functional consensus, and move our programs forward with increased trust and efficiency. You will be responsible for shaping the future of design and validation methods for autonomy fault detection and fallback response functions. You will analyze simulation and road-testing data to refine fault management strategies and system design.

About the Organization: The AV organization is dedicated to advancing the development of autonomous vehicles through cutting-edge simulation technologies and novel iterative development processes. The Software Validation team focuses on unlocking software launches and continuous release decisions via simulation verification and validation strategies, prototypes, and protocols. Our collaborative environment fosters innovation and excellence, allowing us to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous vehicle testing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and execute analyses that define appropriate autonomous vehicle responses to hardware and software faults for maintaining safety.

  • Write software subsystem or component level requirements for fault detection and mitigation actions. Ensure traceability to higher level requirements.

  • Collaborate with other systems engineers and software engineers on autonomy SW solutions that meet fault management requirements.

  • Design metrics and testing methods for validating fault management solutions.

  • Prototype simulation-based and closed-course testing strategies towards a comprehensive validation of AV’s fault handling behavior.

  • Support continuous and scaled software release cycles.

  • Combine experience in systems engineering and data analysis to facilitate data driven refinement of fault management strategies and system design.

  • Mentor team members and facilitate cross-team collaboration to define fault management validation efforts for new launches.

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related fields.

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields.

  • Solid understanding of engineering systems safety design and fault management concepts.

  • Strong system architecture foundations, including experience with hierarchical system decomposition and function mapping.

  • Experience with hazard and failure analysis methods.

  • Experience with SQL and Python for analyzing large datasets.

  • Experience building simulation testing products.

  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and derive impactful conclusions.

  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity, going from quick code prototypes to long-term plans on brief time horizons.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of switching between high-level and detailed discussions.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge

  • Software engineering experience on a safety-critical product, especially as it relates to verification and validation tools.

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, vehicle development, or ADAS development.

  • Experience working with robotics simulation environments.

  • Experience with quantitative performance analysis for fault-tolerant autonomous system design.

Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $148,000 - $226,200. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • You also need to include general information about potential commissions, if applicable.
  • Bonus Potential:  An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more.
