The Role:

Our Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) team is responsible for developing, deploying, and releasing control software and calibrations that truly control the whole vehicle. Be it internal combustion engines, hybridized drive units & transmissions, high voltage batteries, or chassis & thermal management, the exciting challenge of inventing new methods to control the world’s best mechatronic systems is never ending.

General Motors is seeking an Engineering Group Manager to lead the TCS and ESC Calibration organization. This leader will be accountable for building team capability and delivering safe, robust, and customer-focused Traction Control System and Electronic Stability Control calibrations across GM vehicle programs.

As GM continues to deepen its in-house vehicle controls capability, this role will help translate GM-owned TCS and ESC control strategies into production-ready calibration solutions. The work spans the full product lifecycle, from technical intent and feature maturation through vehicle performance and release. The leader will also help ensure that TCS and ESC contribute effectively to GM’s evolving approach to holistic vehicle motion coordination and control, with emphasis on cohesive vehicle behavior and clear feature integration.

The role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and end-to-end execution. The successful candidate will guide calibration strategy from feature requirements and algorithm maturity through virtual development, HiL and CoSim validation, vehicle calibration, performance sign-off, data release, and production deployment.

The TCS and ESC Calibration EGM will work closely with controls design, software, systems engineering, vehicle integration, performance, program, safety, supplier, and manufacturing teams to ensure that TCS and ESC features meet vehicle technical specifications, safety expectations, program timing, and customer performance objectives.

Are you ready to identify and lead staffing initiatives for a work team, conduct regularly scheduled group meetings, communicate GM policies and procedures, leadership and safety messages, and craft specific to function communication on vision and strategy Are you in? #EVerybodyIn. #IWorkForGM

What You’ll do:

  • ad and develop the TCS and ESC Calibration organization, setting technical direction for GM-developed features across programs, platforms, variants, and operating conditions.
  • Own the calibration lifecycle from requirements and algorithm maturity through virtual development, HiL and CoSim testing, vehicle evaluation, reviews, release, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure TCS and ESC deliver predictable, progressive, and customer-appropriate behavior across traction-loss, split-mu, cornering, acceleration, and braking-interaction use cases.
  • Coordinate with adjacent control and vehicle systems, while contributing to GM’s broader vehicle motion coordination and control direction and retaining clear TCS and ESC ownership.
  • Establish calibration standard work and expand the use of simulation, automation, data analytics, and virtual methods to improve quality, speed, and repeatability.
  • Partner with GM controls, software, systems, vehicle integration, performance, program, safety, supplier, and GMTCK teams to resolve issues and incorporate calibration feedback into evolving in-house control strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, quality, and program requirements, including milestone planning, resource planning, test-asset needs, technical reviews, and release readiness.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop technical leaders, foster a high-performing team culture, and represent TCS and ESC Calibration in cross-functional and leadership forums.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
