Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on a mid-shift schedule (1pm to 10pm) , meaning the successful candidate will be required to report to the office based on business needs, with in-office attendance determined as necessary.

The Role

The  Tax Compliance and GBS Migrations Manager  leads global direct and indirect tax compliance activities, and oversees the migration of finance (tax and non-tax related) processes into Global Business Services (GBS) Manila. This role sets the strategy and operating model for tax compliance services and is accountable for compliance, audit readiness, operational excellence, and transformation across  Asia Pacific, Europe, South America, and North America , while also overseeing and ensuring quality transitions in GBS overall.

The position leads a multi-level team, partners closely with  Global Tax, Controllership, and GBS leadership , and is expected to elevate quality, strengthen controls, and scale the service as scope and complexity grow. This role  reports to the GBS Finance Site Lead  within Global Business Services. 

What You'll Do

1. Strategic Tax Compliance, Governance, and Risk Management 

  • Set the strategic direction for global direct and indirect tax compliance, aligned with Global Tax and GBS strategies. 

  • Ensure end‑to‑end compliance with local tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including oversight of tax research and technical positions. 

  • Provide executive‑level review and sign‑off of key tax compliance deliverables (e.g., Sales & Use Tax/VAT, Corporate Income Tax and related filings). 

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, assess their impact, and provide clear, balanced recommendations to senior stakeholders. 

  • Oversee tax accounting positions (e.g., FIN 48 / FAS 5 and related US GAAP guidance), ensuring robust documentation, governance, and risk management. 

2. Operations, Audits, Controls, and Technology 

  • Lead tax audit strategy for in‑scope jurisdictions and act as senior escalation point for tax authority queries and disputes, driving consistent positions and risk‑managed outcomes. 

  • Embed audit readiness, proactive risk management, and SOX‑aligned controls across the team, including early issue identification and timely remediation. 

  • Own the tax technology and automation agenda, reducing manual work and improving quality, control, and efficiency. 

  • Act as  Operations Owner  for Tax Compliance services, accountable for overall service delivery, control environment, and stakeholder satisfaction. 

  • Define and manage  KPIs and SLAs  focused on quality, accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, and drive focused action on performance gaps. 

3. Migrations, Scope Expansion, and Service Catalogue 

  • Serve as  Migrations Lead  for the transition of activities into GBS, from initial assessment and design through go‑live and stabilization. 

  • Evaluate new activities against the service catalogue and recommend scope, resourcing, and timing in partnership with Global Tax, Controllership, and GBS leadership. 

  • Plan and execute migrations with clear milestones, risk and change management, and robust knowledge‑transfer plans. 

  • Proactively identify scope‑expansion opportunities leveraging existing GBS competencies, locations, and processes. 

  • Ensure seamless integration of newly migrated processes into the operating model, including controls, reporting, and performance management. 

4. Strategic Partnership, People Leadership, and Culture 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to  Global Tax, GM Controllership, and Business Units  on tax compliance, risk, and operational topics. 

  • Lead senior leadership reporting on KPIs, risks, and strategic initiatives for GBS and key stakeholders. 

  • Set a clear vision and priorities for the Tax Compliance & Migrations team, translating strategy into concrete objectives, ways of working, and success measures. 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi‑level team, building strong talent and succession pipelines for critical roles. 

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high‑performance culture that emphasizes accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and learning. 

  • Model GM behaviors and leadership expectations, ensuring engagement, retention, and development of diverse talent. 

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)​​ 

  • Bachelor’s degree in  Accounting, Finance, or a related field  required. 

  • 12+ years  of experience in Tax and/or Controllership within multinational environments. 

  • Minimum  5–7 years of leadership experience  managing multi‑level teams (15+ FTEs), ideally across multiple countries or regions. 

  • Significant experience with  international tax compliance  (regional required; global preferred). 

  • Proven track record driving  automation, standardization, and process improvements  in complex, matrixed organizations. 

  • CPA  preferred but not mandatory. 

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)​ 

  • Strong understanding of  US GAAP, tax accounting, and SOX / internal control requirements

  • Working knowledge of  SAP and tax technology platforms , with strong proficiency in MS Office and data analytics tools. 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex tax and accounting requirements into practical processes, controls, and standard work. 

  • Strategic thinker and structured problem solver, comfortable managing ambiguity and making sound, risk‑balanced decisions with incomplete information. 

  • Influential leader with strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven record of  driving change, performance, and stakeholder alignment
