The Role:
In this position, you will support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment and participate in training and developing of salaried and hourly employees, and in the development of highly effective teams.
You will support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities):
- People Leader for salaried personnel
- You would be in charge of safety, people, quality, responsiveness and cost on your shift.
- Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
- Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
- Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues
- Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
- Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 4+ years experience of high volume manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated capability in project management skills
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Excellent Oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan
- Must be able to lead 3 shifts and work the hours required to be effective
- Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master Degree
- 5+ years experience high volume manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple manufacturing operations activities
- Previous experience leading salaried teams
- Thorough knowledge of GM-GMS Manufacturing System and Processes
