Description
The Role:
We are seeking a strategic technology leader to manage global computer demand planning, budget oversight, and enterprise asset optimization across GM’s computing environment. This role is responsible for aligning computer demand with regional and country-level business needs, maintaining and tracking the global computing budget, planning refresh activity, and ensuring usable computers are effectively managed for deployment.
The Senior Global Computer Demand Planner partners closely with regional operations teams, country leads, finance, asset management, deployment teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the right computing resources are available for new hires, break/fix needs, role changes, and refresh cycles. This role also leads data-driven decision-making through inventory analytics, telemetry insights, and dashboard reporting to improve utilization, reduce unnecessary purchases, and optimize lifecycle management across a large global fleet.
The ideal candidate combines strategic planning, financial discipline, operational leadership, and strong analytical capability to drive cost efficiency, improve process performance, and maintain a healthy global computing environment.
What You'll Do:
-
Lead global computer demand planning across all regions and countries to ensure computing supply aligns with business demand and country-level budgets.
-
Manage and track the global computing budget, including annual forecasting, spend monitoring, prioritization, and financial alignment with business and finance stakeholders.
-
Oversee planning and execution of global computer refresh initiatives to maintain a healthy and supportable computing landscape.
-
Ensure usable computers are actively managed for redeployment, including reclaiming unused or inactive assets and reducing unnecessary new purchases.
-
Partner with regional and country leads to maintain adequate inventory for new hires, break/fix requests, refresh activity, and employee change requests.
-
Monitor global inventory health, utilization, lifecycle status, and deployment readiness using asset management data and reporting tools.
-
Develop and enhance dashboards and analytics that provide real-time visibility into inventory, usage, orders, refresh status, and model usability.
-
Use telemetry and asset data to identify underutilized devices, refresh candidates, and opportunities for cost avoidance or targeted upgrades.
-
Drive process improvements that simplify ordering and approval workflows, reduce cycle time, improve on-time delivery, and eliminate escalations.
-
Evaluate higher-end computer requests and ensure proposed solutions are appropriate, justified, and cost-effective.
-
Standardize asset governance practices, naming conventions, and model rationalization to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
-
Collaborate across global operations, finance, deployment, and asset management teams to support enterprise-wide compute planning and execution.
-
Provide proactive leadership and executive-level insights on compute demand, budget performance, refresh progress, and optimization opportunities.
What You'll Need:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
-
Significant experience in global demand planning, IT asset management, infrastructure operations, or related technology management roles.
-
Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and spend tracking in a large-scale enterprise environment.
-
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across regions, countries, and multiple stakeholder groups.
-
Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive operational and financial decisions.
-
Experience with inventory lifecycle management, refresh planning, and enterprise hardware deployment.
-
Experience creating or using dashboards and reporting tools to monitor operational performance and asset health.
-
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, and finance teams.
-
Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve processes, and drive operational accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience managing large global computing environments with complex regional demand and budget requirements.
-
Experience with ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management data or similar enterprise asset platforms.
-
Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence and dashboarding tools.
-
Familiarity with device telemetry, utilization analysis, and lifecycle scoring methodologies.
-
Strong understanding of enterprise PC refresh strategy, inventory optimization, and redeployment practices.
-
Proven track record of delivering measurable cost avoidance, process improvement, and budget alignment outcomes.
-
Experience influencing decisions at both operational and leadership levels in a global organization.
Success Profile
-
The successful candidate will be a highly organized and data-driven leader who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational execution. They will bring a strong sense of ownership, a collaborative global mindset, and the ability to translate asset, inventory, and budget data into clear actions that improve service, reduce cost, and strengthen GM’s overall computing environment.
