Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on day shift . This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
As Tax Compliance Senior Analyst, your main responsibility is to lead, own and sustain the daily operations for the markets you are assigned with. You will be reviewing tax return packages to ensure they are compliant with local tax regulations, review journal entries and accounts reconciliations to ensure that supporting calculations are sufficient. You will also be leading process efficiencies to drive continuous improvement and adhere to compliance policies in the company. Collaborating and engaging with different teams, business units, tax managers and auditors are part of the daily operations for the role.
What You’ll Do

Review and approve Journal Entries based on financial information, focused on withholding tax, VAT and other direct and indirect taxes

Maintain and apply knowledge of indirect taxes and developments that affect the business/country

Develops case for change, regularly communicates on progress and status and leads transition plan for process, organization, systems and tools.

Focus on quality and sustained operations

As reviewer and approver, responsible for managing the execution of:

Monthly closing and reporting as per US GAAP
-
Account reconciliation excellence
-
Quarterly/Annual closing as per US GAAP
-

Lead the Tax Compliance team in accordance with tax principles applied in countries in-scope to optimize minimal scrutiny and audit assessments from jurisdictional reviews of processes and filings.

Timely review and submission of tax returns including, but not limited to: sales/use, GST, property tax and various annual reports. Ensure timely and accurate submission of associated journal entries and account reconciliations.

Maintain complete and current Tax department policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with GM policies and procedures, revise policies and procedures as appropriate.

Lead and facilitate audits with direct implementation of controls, when applicable, on a post audit basis to prevent future occurrences.

Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks

Lead or actively participate in Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)

Responsible for identifying and documenting process gaps to moderate standard financial analysis

Research and resolve Business Unit(s) inquiries for assigned functional areas.

Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance Projects as assigned by Management.
Technical Knowledge Requirements:
-
Understanding of Indirect tax – application in monthly accounting cycle and reporting

Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX /Internal Control Requirements – additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable;

Working knowledge of SAP and other GM systems as required for the assigned position (systems and level of knowledge necessary will vary – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality)

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
BA/BS in Finance/Supply Chain/Accounting/Business or equivalent with strong foundation and experience in a shared service environment

Experience working in a multinational organization and working with colleagues internationally is preferred
-
Minimum 2-3 years experience in Tax Accounting / Regulations and US GAAP
-
Works effectively with others and as part of a team;

Competent/Above-Average English Fluency
-
Ability to understand, speak and write Portuguese or Spanish is a plus (requirement for bilingual analysts)
