The Role
The mission of the GM EDI team is to develop, execute, and maintain an EDI strategy that enables GM to exchange business data across its supply chain quickly, accurately, securely, and at scale. Success in this role requires strong command of GM EDI standards, trading partner processes, enterprise integration patterns, and the business processes that support Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, Finance, and Retail Sales.
The GM EDI Team is seeking a Senior System Engineer : EDI Analyst to partner across internal IT teams, business stakeholders, external trading partners, and strategic SaaS vendors. This role is ideal for a senior-level EDI professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong systems thinking, business process knowledge, and the ability to influence modern integration solutions.
In this role, you will help support EDI operations, modernization, process automation, and technical thought leadership across GM’s B2B and emerging B2C integration landscape. You will be expected to challenge the status quo and help GM shape the future of digital business connectivity with our trading and technology partners, including how the B2B network can be expanded to support broader supply chain collaboration use cases.
What You’ll Do
- Support EDI operations, modernization, process automation, and technical thought leadership initiatives across GM’s B2B and emerging B2C integration ecosystem.
- Support supplier and customer onboarding, trading partner escalations, plant and product launches, and ongoing production operations.
- Design and support B2B solutions using APIs and traditional formats of ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, RND, VDA, and related standards.
- Translate business requirements into transaction-set design, mapping logic, API-enabled integration patterns, and scalable support models
- Partner with enterprise business teams to align technical solutions with operational outcomes.
- Work closely with internal teams, external trading partners, and SaaS vendors to define requirements, shape solution direction, and cultivate durable technical and operational partnerships.
- Manage and improve end-to-end EDI data flows, monitor, handle exceptions, analyze root cause, and production support.
- Document specifications, mapping rules, business processes, technical processes, and support procedures.
- Apply ERP/MRP knowledge to ensure EDI data is correctly integrated into upstream and downstream business workflows.
- Drive innovation in AI-assisted operations, intelligent mapping, automated issue detection and self-healing, and business process automation.
- Influence long-term roadmaps, continuous improvement, standardization, and technical mentoring across the team.

Your Skills & Abilities ( Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Significant experience in EDI, B2B and/or B2C integration , systems engineering, systems analysis, or enterprise application integration.
- Experience delivering and supporting production solutions with cross-functional business and technical stakeholders.
- Deep experience in EDI analysis, design, implementation, and support in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience with API development , modern integration patterns, and AI-enabled automation opportunities.
- Strong working knowledge of ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, RND, VDA, and common manufacturing, retail, and financial transaction sets such as DELFOR (830), DELJIT (862), DESADV (856), ORDERS (850), INVOIC (810), REMADV (820), and INVRPT (846) .
- Strong understanding of the business processes and data flows underlying supplier and customer schedules, releases, shipments, orders, invoices, remittance, and inventory reporting.
- Experience translating business requirements into transaction-set design, mapping rules, integration logic, and supportable technical solutions.
- High-level understanding of ERP/MRP concepts and how enterprise applications consume, validate, and act on EDI data.
- Experience with EDI translation platforms , data validation, exception handling, and trading partner implementation practices.
- Experience partnering with SaaS vendors at a technical level to govern requirements, influence roadmaps, resolve incidents, and build strong working solutions and relationships.
- Strong systems analysis, troubleshooting, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity, prototype where needed, and mature solutions into stable enterprise capabilities.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in automotive, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, purchasing, finance, or retail sales domains.
- Experience with SAP or other major ERP ecosystems.
- Experience modernizing legacy B2B platforms through standardization, automation, analytics, and emerging integration approaches.
