Description

Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advance Technical Center in Shanghai, China full time.

The Role -
As a System Engineer, you will work on vehicle domain controllers, ADAS, and related applications. You will be responsible for the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from requirements analysis and system design to validation platform development, integration, validation, and issue resolution. This role requires capabilities across system architecture, software development, and validation, with approximately 50% of the work involving hands-on activities such as coding, environment setup, and system debugging. You will also be expected to proactively clarify requirements, drive solution convergence, and deliver results when objectives or boundaries are not yet fully defined.

What You’ll Do -

  • Translate business objectives and vehicle-level functional requirements into clear and verifiable system requirements, technical constraints, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define system boundaries and architecture, including functional decomposition, module responsibilities, interfaces, data flows, state behavior, and deployment solutions.
  • Lead the architecture and development of the Benchmark System, building validation frameworks, data pipelines, metric systems, automated execution, and results analysis capabilities to deliver repeatable and traceable functional and performance evaluations for ADAS features and controllers.
  • Analyze ADAS perception, sensor fusion, planning, control, and actuation chains to define key scenarios, system interfaces, data flows, timing requirements, and degradation strategies.
  • Design or review in-vehicle communication and diagnostic solutions for CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS, including signal definitions, network load, and diagnostic services.
  • Develop controller software validation benches, HIL systems, or system-level validation environments, including environment setup, fault injection, validation automation, results analysis, and issue closure.
  • Balance real-time performance, reliability, functional safety, cybersecurity, resource utilization, maintainability, and cost to drive key architecture decisions through to implementation.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for system architecture, interfaces, timing, states, data flows, and deployment, ensuring alignment between design and implementation.
  • Drive system integration and verification and validation (V&V), using logs, metrics, bus data, and validation results to identify and resolve cross-module and cross-ECU issues.
  • Assess the architectural impact of changes to requirements and collaborate with feature development, software, validation, vehicle engineering, and supplier teams to implement solutions and drive issues to closure.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Vehicle Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded software, automotive electronics, systems engineering, or system architecture.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering methods, including requirements analysis, functional decomposition, interface design, system modeling, and verification and validation (V&V).
  • Understanding of embedded and distributed automotive systems, with practical engineering experience in real-time performance, reliability, determinism, and resource-constrained environments.
  • Knowledge of layered, modular, service-oriented, or event-driven architectures, as well as core AUTOSAR Classic concepts including SWC, RTE, and BSW.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS, with the ability to design or review in-vehicle communication, network load, and diagnostic solutions.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, or Python, with experience in software development, debugging, simulation, data processing, or validation automation.
  • Understanding of typical ADAS features, system components, data flows, and validation methods.
  • Strong system analysis, troubleshooting, technical communication, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong results orientation, with the ability to clarify requirements, drive solution convergence, and collaborate across teams when information is incomplete or objectives are not yet fully defined.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience designing and developing validation platforms, Benchmark Systems, or controller software validation benches.
  • Project experience with battery controllers, battery management systems (BMS), ADAS, or vehicle domain controllers.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization, data processing, or validation automation infrastructure.
