The Role
GM Fleet is seeking a Commercial District Manager to lead dealer performance and growth across an assigned territory. In this role, you will administer the Business Elite and Medium Duty Participation Agreements between GM and its dealers while serving as a strategic consultant and business partner to dealer leadership.
You will work closely with dealers to develop and execute business plans that strengthen commercial vehicle sales, service retention, customer satisfaction, and overall dealership performance. You will also help deliver a seamless customer experience from purchase through the vehicle lifecycle by applying market insights, commercial marketing strategies, sales programs, training, and performance analysis.
This role offers the opportunity to influence dealer results, strengthen GM’s commercial presence, and build long-term business relationships across a dynamic territory.
The territory for this position is Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The selected candidate must reside within the territory. This position is not eligible for relocation.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Consult with, coach, and influence dealers to achieve monthly and annual sales objectives and other business-plan goals.
- Administer dealer compliance with the Business Elite and Medium Duty programs.

Improve OnStar Package and OVI telematics sales across assigned dealerships.

Develop and implement commercial digital marketing, advertising, and business-to-business sales initiatives.

Improve commercial website performance and increase lead-generation activity.

Analyze dealer sales, vehicle registration data, dealer effectiveness, lost sales, local market conditions, and competitive activity to identify specific growth opportunities.

Identify business-to-business marketing opportunities that can increase commercial vehicle sales and service retention.

Partner with Commercial Sales Managers to execute local tactics identified in dealer Business Elite business plans.

Support regional and local business-to-business sales strategies and communicate relevant competitive intelligence.

Conduct regular dealer meetings, dealership management meetings, sales activities, and training sessions, including monthly face-to-face interactions.

Collaborate with retail teams on dealership growth plans that include commercial vehicle sales and service.

Provide guidance on commercial supplier and vehicle manufacturer upfit products, GM products and services, customer segments, and competitive vehicle makes and models.

Coach dealers on customer retention, satisfaction, and dealership loyalty.

Assist with dealer and customer issue resolution while applying GM policies and procedures.

Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel when needed.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in business or related major.

5+ years of experience in fleet sales, customer service, business-to-business sales, account management, or another related sales environment.

Ability to travel approximately 60%–70% of the time, including overnight travel when applicable.

Ability to balance competing priorities and maintain effectiveness in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to understand the audience, present information effectively, and communicate openly.

Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to focus on high-impact activities and challenge distractions from business priorities.

Ability to build strong relationships and influence business partners without direct authority.

Ability to present vehicles, business plans, and PowerPoint presentations to dealers and customers.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze business and performance data.

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis. A company vehicle will be provided following successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

Dealership or broader automotive industry experience.

Experience developing and executing business-to-business marketing or sales strategies.

Knowledge of dealer operations, commercial vehicle upfits, customer retention, or automotive service operations.
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
