Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) and/or Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) three times per week at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:
The successful candidate will join an Agile Scrum team of approximately 10 members, responsible for developing Exterior and Interior Lighting software & controls for all GM vehicles produced globally! Our Scrum teams work in an Agile framework and are responsible for Requirements, Software Development, and Testing & Verification. The primary role of the successful candidate will be Software Development and Testing. Our team is collaborative, has a strong Agile culture, and will afford you the opportunity to work as part of a fun group whose product helps you see – and be seen – in every GM vehicle on the road!

Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborate with Product Managers, Testers, and other developers, using methods like Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) to create and implement Lighting Features for GM’s next generation of EV and ICE vehicles.

Design, implement and integrate complex embedded software systems in hand-coded C.
-
Develop and maintain Unit tests and Multicomponent tests to ensure thorough software testing, and execute model/code equivalences testing.

Develop and execute automated tests in simulation and hardware-in-loop to validate system / sub-system requirements.

Participate in the Agile Team and Agile ceremonies as required.

Learn and apply system-level test methodologies that support new product development, collaborating with CI/CD and automation teams.
Required Qualifications:
-
Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Eligible to work full time hours, 40 hours a week for a term of 12- 16 months (consecutive semesters) starting January 2027
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Candidate demonstrates a high degree of ownership and initiative for their work, and strong collaboration and teamwork skills.

AutoDrive, EcoCAR, or other Automotive related experience/clubs.

Proficient in Embedded C and Python.
-
Understanding of embedded controls software and the automated software build processes.

Familiarity with automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, and SPI

Experience in virtualization or software integration.
NOTE- YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN A CO-OP PROGRAM AND MEET THE PROGRAM’S ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS. ALL STUDENTS MUST ALSO BE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO WORK IN CANADA.
The monthly salary range for this role is $4,264.00 to $4784.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
