Position Overview

We are seeking a Design Release Engineer to support the design, development, release, integration, and lifecycle management of suspension components and systems. This role supports suspension solutions that meet vehicle targets for ride, handling, durability, NVH, packaging, cost, quality, timing, and customer expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design and release of assigned suspension components and systems from concept through production.

  • Translate vehicle objectives into component and system requirements, including performance, durability, load, operating, packaging, and tuning requirements.

  • Develop and maintain designs, 3D models, drawings, specifications, bills of material, design records, and engineering changes.

  • Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis, Structures, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and program teams.

  • Support component, subsystem, and vehicle-level testing, including K&C, rig, durability, and vehicle evaluations.

  • Analyze test and development issues, identify root causes, and support corrective actions and design updates.

  • Support supplier technical reviews, design decisions, issue resolution, and launch readiness.

  • Maintain DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, requirements, BOMs, and issue-tracking documentation.

  • Manage assigned deliverables and support program timing, cost, quality, performance, and launch objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Three or more years of experience in vehicle suspension design, development, testing, or release.

  • Experience supporting the design and release of suspension components or systems.

  • Working knowledge of suspension design, vehicle dynamics, K&C, durability, NVH, spring and damper matching, load management, and component interfaces.

  • Experience with engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, BOMs, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and test-data analysis.

  • Ability to resolve technical issues, manage assigned work, and meet timing, cost, quality, and performance objectives.

  • Strong collaboration and technical communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with suspension hardware for trucks, SUVs, or other high-load vehicles.

  • Experience with towing, hauling, off-road, performance, or track-focused programs.

  • Experience supporting components through validation, production launch, and lifecycle support.

  • Exposure to electronically controlled suspension or chassis control systems.

  • Experience with supplier development, manufacturing feasibility, cost optimization, or launch activities.

  • Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
