The Role
We are seeking a highly driven Product Validation Engineer to lead validation and verification activities for next-generation energy and charging hardware systems, including bi-directional EVSE, uni-directional EVSE, inverters, energy hubs, stationary storage, and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) / Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) solutions.
This role owns end-to-end validation strategy and execution across the product lifecycle, from early architecture definition through launch and field performance. You will ensure our products meet the highest standards for safety, reliability, durability, regulatory compliance, and customer experience.
You’ll work at the intersection of hardware, firmware, power electronics, grid integration, and customer use cases, partnering cross-functionally with engineering, quality, suppliers, and field teams to deliver robust, production-ready energy solutions at scale.
This role works closely with external suppliers to establish validation requirements for new products and product enhancements, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory expectations. The engineer will track supplier progress, review validation evidence, and manage documentation within GM systems to support launch readiness.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Translate customer requirements, regulatory standards, and use cases into measurable validation criteria

Establish design validation, reliability, and stress test methodologies

Define and communicate validation requirements for new products and product changes

Develop and maintain ADVP&R in collaboration with suppliers

Track supplier validation progress, schedules, and deliverables

Review and approve supplier test reports, certifications, and compliance documentation

Ensure validation aligns with applicable standards, regulations, and internal requirements

Identify validation risks and escalate issues as needed
-
Support quality and launch readiness reviews with validation status and evidence
-
Store and maintain validation documentation in GM systems with clear traceability

Drive root cause analysis for validation and field issues

Partner with design, supplier, and manufacturing teams on corrective actions

Track defects through closure and verify effectiveness of fixes

Support continuous improvement and design robustness initiatives

Support prototype builds, pilot fleets, and pre-production readiness

Provide validation readiness input for launch gates and quality reviews
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field
-
3+ years of experience in product validation, or test engineering

Strong root cause problem-solving skills

Experience working directly with external suppliers

Strong understanding of hardware validation and documentation

Ability to review technical test data and certification reports

Strong organization, tracking, and communication skills

Familiarity with DVP&R, DFMEA, and validation best practices

Knowledge of safety and compliance standards (UL, CSA, IEC)
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

5+ years of experience in product validation, or test engineering

Experience with EVSE, inverters, energy storage, or residential energy systems
