Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

About the Organizations:

The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) organization is dedicated to advancing the development of autonomous vehicles through cutting-edge simulation technologies and novel iterative development processes. The Software Validation organization holds end-to-end accountability for every capability and feature spanning the autonomy software system. The SAFE-ADS team is responsible for internal and external Safety Assurance processes, claims, accumulation of evidence, reporting and response to inquiries for GMs Automated Driving Systems.

The Role

In this Technical Program Manager (TPM) position, you will play a critical role at the interface between the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Software Validation team and the Safety Assurance for Effective Autonomous Driving Software (SAFE-ADS) team within GM’s Global Product Safety, Systems and Certification organization. You will work cross-functionally to develop industry leading AV quantification methods, scale them in software for near-term AV program validation as well as to provide long term GM AV safety monitoring, reporting and incident response. You will work cross functionally to integrate workstreams, define clear milestones, de-risk dependencies, drive alignment, and execute projects efficiently.

  • Partner with AV safety, software validation systems engineering, and other cross functional technical leads to translate engineering work into project definitions, roadmaps, timelines, resourcing, and cost plans to efficiently execute program milestones.

  • Drive execution, risk management, and governance for critical-path projects, enterprise safety initiatives, and incident response by proactively identifying and mitigating technical/program risks, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, defining and tracking KPIs and validation milestones, and leading program reviews with technical and executive leaders.

  • Responsibilities also include facilitating standards and best-practice synthesis, external collaborations, data collection campaigns, engineering and computational model development, metric design, and scaling models/metrics/targets via cross-functional cloud-based pipelines and interactive visualizations.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Vehicle Engineering or a related technical field

  • 8+ years of engineering experience with a minimum of 3 years of technical program management experience

  • Demonstrated experience in cloud-based data storage and data processing, including optimization for continuous availability, speed, and cost.

  • A track record of successfully managing technically complex, cross-functional programs in development and scaling to production

  • Strong systems thinking with ability to expose and mitigate risks

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of switching between high-level leadership summaries and detailed technical discussions

  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity

  • Familiarity integrating agile program delivery and waterfall method -  Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, and technical development workflows

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of TPM emphasizing safety critical technical systems

  • Demonstrated experience in AI/ML, robotics, or autonomous systems
