The Role
As an Electrical Diagnostician you serve as the plant’s technical authority for modules and software-related electrical concerns impacting vehicle build and quality. You are the single-point contact for complex module, network, and software issues, applying structured problem-solving and standardized documentation to protect both the customer and plant operations. Partnering with suppliers, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Software Integration Engineers, and the broader Electrical Team, you ensure that issues are driven to root cause and robust resolution. You play a critical role in launch and steady state, enabling flawless execution of engineering changes, software releases, and module updates while strengthening customer confidence in every vehicle.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the primary technical contact for modules and software concerns in the plant, providing daily support to protect uptime, quality, and customer experience.
- Support achievement of quality metrics for EFTQ, DRR, and GCA by providing electrical sufficiency and leadership on module and software-related issues.
- Utilize standardized processes and systems ( PRTS, SPPS, GSIP ) to document, track, and resolve electrical and module concerns, ensuring clear ownership and durable corrective actions.
- Problem solve and analyze test data, vehicle logs, snapshots, and CAN bus traces to direct root cause, assign ownership, and validate repair effectiveness.
- Champion Electrical BoO elements related to modules (e.g., Module Scrap Tracking, No Trouble Found, Team of Three) and ensure proper execution in the plant.
- Lead plant implementation of software and module changes (e.g., VeSCoM releases, TWO/EWO breakpoints, loose piece reflash activities) in partnership with GEPICS Coordinators, Software VSEs, CRT, and suppliers.
- Provide technical direction and support to Value Added Assemblers (VAAs) in developing and maintaining Bills of Operations related to modules to ensure consistent quality and performance.
- Communicate engineering changes, supplier feedback, and containment plans to production teams and VAAs, following up to confirm correct execution and performance in the field.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with suppliers and third-party providers, including oversight of supplier test equipment and work instructions for containment in the plant.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

- Minimum 3 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems, modules, and software in manufacturing, product engineering, or related environments.
- Proven ability to independently root cause complex module and software issues using structured data analysis, diagnostic tools, and standardized processes.
- Demonstrated proficiency with electrical diagnostic tools and systems (e.g., GDS2/MDI, PRTS, SPPS, GSIP) and the ability to interpret and act on vehicle logs and test data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of making timely, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Suppliers, and plant operations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate highly technical content into clear direction and summaries for non-technical stakeholders.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Deep knowledge of GEPICS/SPR , software release processes, VeSCoM, and their integration with plant operations and change management (TWO/EWO).
- Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams that include suppliers, third-party providers, and internal engineering to resolve systemic module or software concerns.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing Bills of Operations and work instructions related to modules and software-containing components.
- DVT experience or advanced Electrical Engineering background focused on vehicle electrical architecture, communication networks, and embedded controllers.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills with proven capability to identify, implement, and sustain effective solutions to recurring module and software issues.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and requirements and how they influence electrical and software robustness in the finished vehicle.
- Strong working knowledge of GMS , BIQ4 deliverables, and how manufacturing requirements impact software, module integration, and vehicle build processes.
