The Role:
Join the VMEC Vehicle Dynamics/Chassis Controls group as a Functional System Architect (FSA) in charge of understanding and defining functional system requirements and architectures. As an FSA, you are the technical leader of large group of engineers to define all aspects of your domain. You will provide mentoring, guidance to the Function Engineers work products in your domain.
What You’ll do:
Own the Vision:
- Develop and drive the requirements architectural vision and ART Solution context for your domain.
- Define ART solutions, break down epics into deliverables, and create ART features in Jira.
- Champion the roll-down from FTS, STS, Portfolio Epic, and Product Team to create requirements architecture.
- Ensure seamless integration of Chassis Systems into the vehicle, including interfaces with steering, propulsion, active safety, and other disciplines.
- Define the ART functional architecture vision and collaborate with Product Team members.
Work Cross-Functionally:
- Directly support development scrum teams in the Chassis ART.
- Work with the Product Team to ensure proper timing to TFRP and alignment to the epic process.
- Capture customer-facing requirements, including NVH, performance, functionality, diagnostics, and remedial actions.
Safety & Regulation Focused:
- Reference System Safety Hazard Analysis and partition safety hazard requirements to functions.
- Comprehend applicable government regulations.
Define Functional Controls and Hardware Requirements :
- Define functional requirements and map inputs to outputs.
- Define remedial actions based on fault detection, propagation, and maturation.
- Create context diagrams, functional architecture diagrams, and hardware integration of functions.
- Develop acceptance criteria for new/modified features and ensure they are met prior to release.
- Define function interface requirements, including aging, build variation, noise factors, and environmental factors.
- Define how inputs to the function transform outputs, including latency, overshoot, and oscillation.
- Define signal/data retention requirements and diagnostic, degraded state, remedial action, and recovery requirements.
- Define use cases and measurable/objective performance requirements for normal and degraded states.
Support Creation of Engineering System Performance Requirements:
- Support the creation of actuator and sensor functional and performance requirements (HW).
- Define and support calibratable aspects of the function.
- Lead System/Subsystem DFMEAs and participate in design-level DFMEAs.
