The Role

As the Materials Engineering Group Manager - Global Energy, Fluids & Lubricants, you will lead and develop a high-performing team of materials science engineers, setting the strategic direction for the use of various materials including fuels, fluids, and lubricants. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to enhance and improve product quality and ensure adherence to industry regulations and corporate engineering standards.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead strategic initiatives in material development, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement for fuels, fluids, and lubricants.

  • Project Management: Oversee and manage complex research and development projects, ensuring timely and successful execution.

  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance on material selection, testing, and performance analysis for critical automotive components.

  • Innovation and R&D: Drive research and development of cutting-edge materials, incorporating the latest technologies and methodologies, for fuels, fluids, and lubricants..

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure materials meet the highest quality standards and regulatory requirements, implementing robust quality control processes.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, aftersales, and supply chain, to achieve project goals.

  • Leadership and Development: Lead and develop junior engineers and teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers, ensuring quality and availability.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Document and present comprehensive research findings, test results, and technical specifications to stakeholders and executive management.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years Engineering experience

  • Experience working with global cross functional partners

  • Works well with others, including internal and external team members across multiple functions

  • Ability to develop and execute complex strategies and follow through with ensuing tactical implementations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for results

  • Works well with all levels of the organization effectively including senior management

  • Must be action oriented, high initiative individual that is able to work independently with minimal leadership direction

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships

  • Demonstrated ability of dealing with ambiguity to enable timely decision making

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master of Science in Engineering

  • Prior Supervisory or Managerial Experience

  • DFSS Black Belt Certification

  • Understanding of the API, dexos, dexron and dexcool lubricant approval and licensing processes
