Descrição

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

The Prismatics Execution Engineer will support the launch, retooling, and production execution of prismatic machining and assembly processes at Toledo Propulsion Systems. This role is responsible for transforming program requirements into safe, capable, production-ready equipment and processes for current and future propulsion programs, including AB1V Prismatics and GF8 Prismatics.

The engineer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Quality, Safety, Controls, Maintenance, Construction, suppliers, and program leadership to deliver equipment installation, integration, qualification, production readiness, and PPAP activities in alignment with GM standards and expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the installation, integration, commissioning, retooling, and optimization of prismatic machining equipment, tooling, automation, and process technologies.

  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, plant personnel, and engineering teams to ensure installation and retooling activities are completed safely, on schedule, and according to approved requirements.

  • Support equipment acceptance, G-Risk and safety reviews, red-tag and yellow-tag activities, green-tag readiness, process qualification, and capability studies prior to production use.

  • Develop, maintain, and track execution deliverables, timing plans, installation status, open issues, risks, and recovery actions for assigned program scope.

  • Support equipment runoff, build events, trial runs, process capability studies, run-at-rate activities, launch readiness reviews, and production ramp-up.

  • Partner with Quality, Plant, and Process Engineering teams to identify prismatic process risks, resolve launch issues, and establish robust controls for first-time quality.

  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete PPAP documentation and related manufacturing deliverables in accordance with GM requirements.

  • Verify that prismatic machining processes meet applicable safety, quality, ergonomic, throughput, dimensional, equipment, and process-control expectations.

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities for equipment, process, and product issues using data-driven methods.

  • Review engineering changes and ensure implementation plans, timing, documentation, and shop-floor updates are completed effectively.

  • Communicate program status, technical concerns, countermeasures, and escalation needs to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Promote standardized work, lessons learned, equipment reuse, and continuous improvement across Toledo prismatic programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, equipment installation, launch execution, or a related technical field.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, equipment suppliers, contractors, and plant operations.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, tooling, automation, machining, assembly, and production launch activities.

  • Understanding of quality systems, process validation, PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, standardized work, and structured problem solving.

  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate safety risks.

  • Strong organizational, communication, technical problem-solving, and project execution skills.

  • Ability to work on the plant floor and support activities across shifts, including occasional off-shift, weekend, or shutdown support as program timing requires.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with prismatic machining, transmission or drive-unit manufacturing, complex mechanical processes, or high-volume automated production systems.

  • Experience supporting GM manufacturing systems, launch deliverables, equipment acceptance, G-Risk, red-tag, yellow-tag, green-tag, or PPAP processes.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing documentation, process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, gages, CMMs, CNC equipment, automation, coolant systems, leak testing, traceability systems, and end-of-line testing.

  • Experience with supplier management, project timing, installation tracking, issue resolution, and escalation.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods, capability analysis, DOE, Red X, or other data-driven problem-solving tools.

  • Experience supporting AB1V Prismatics, GF8 Prismatics, capacity increases, equipment retooling, equipment reuse, or similar propulsion manufacturing program launches.

Work Environment

This is an onsite engineering role at Toledo Propulsion Systems supporting prismatic machining and assembly execution. The position requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor and close collaboration with plant, supplier, construction, maintenance, quality, safety, controls, and process engineering teams. The engineer will support equipment installation, retooling, line integration, G-Risk reviews, qualification, capability validation, equipment runoff, build events, and launch activities for prismatic processes and equipment based on program requirements.

Success in This Role

Success will be demonstrated through safe and timely execution of prismatic equipment installation and retooling, effective completion of G-Risk and red-tag, yellow-tag, qualification, and green-tag readiness activities, achievement of process capability requirements, and completion of accurate PPAP deliverables. The engineer will help deliver stable, reliable prismatic machining and assembly processes that meet GM safety, quality, timing, throughput, equipment, and production-readiness expectations.
