This role is responsible for building and developing a high-performing engineering team, defining calibration and validation strategies, and ensuring embedded software meets requirements for functionality, performance, safety, quality, and program readiness. The successful candidate will drive technical excellence, foster cross-functional collaboration, and help deliver innovative electrification and autonomous vehicle solutions. As a people leader, you will shape an inclusive, agile, and high-performing culture focused on safety, quality, innovation, execution, and customer value.

The Engineering Manager will partner closely with systems engineering, controls and software development, safety, integration, and program teams to identify technical risks, resolve complex system and integration challenges, and deliver robust, production-ready embedded software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers responsible for calibration, simulation (HIL/SIL), testing, validation, and release readiness, fostering accountability, technical excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals, expectations, and development plans aligned with business objectives and program priorities.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leaders while promoting collaboration, accountability, technical growth, and GM leadership behaviors.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage engineering activities and resource allocation to support program deliverables and organizational objectives.
  • Establish and manage budgets, resource plans, and staffing strategies to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and execute strategic action plans that enhance team capability, product quality, operational efficiency, and delivery performance.
  • Drive innovation and identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, standards, methodologies, and organizational capability.
  • Promote standardized engineering processes, quality practices, safety-focused development, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive test automation, reusable validation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables, including validation plans, test reports, compliance artifacts, readiness reviews, and technical documentation, are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in embedded control systems, calibration, simulation, validation, testing, or the development of safety-critical systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of technical and/or people leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex automotive, autonomous systems, embedded software, controls, or electrification-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of embedded controls, diagnostics, calibration, validation, release processes, and system integration principles.
  • Experience with vehicle architectures, software and hardware integration, communications interfaces, diagnostics, and failure mode analysis.
  • Proven ability to identify technical risks, perform root-cause analysis, and drive effective cross-functional problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects or programs in a matrixed, fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, influence across organizational boundaries, and drive multiple priorities to successful completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field, and/or a Master of Business Administration.
  • Experience with battery management systems (BMS), electrification technologies, autonomous vehicles, ADAS, robotics, or advanced vehicle software systems.
  • Experience with calibration, simulation, test automation, validation, regression testing, CI/CD pipelines, Python-based development, data analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and platforms such as GitHub, Jira, Confluence, MATLAB/Simulink, ETAS INCA, dSPACE, Vector tool suites, HIL/SIL environments, and test management systems.
  • Knowledge of functional safety, safety assurance, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and applicable automotive and non-automotive standards (e.g., UL standards).
  • Experience leading distributed, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy, influence stakeholders, and deliver results across complex, multi-disciplinary programs.
