描述

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

The Role

The EGM – Fuel Systems Engineering leads a team of engineers and technical specialists responsible for design and hardware release of fuel systems and EV brake lines.  You will provide technical and people leadership to ensure robust system design, integration, and execution that meets safety, quality, timing, and cost targets. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and plays a key role in shaping GM’s fuel and EV brake line strategies across multiple architectures.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead the fuel systems and EV brake lines hardware release team for ensuring on-time, high-quality engineering releases.

  • Provide technical direction on design, integration, and validation for fuel and EV brake line systems, resolving complex issues and trade-offs.

  • Oversee engineering documentation and release discipline, including drawings, specifications, BOM integrity, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and change management.

  • Partner with Program Teams, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to ensure effective system integration, plant readiness, and launch execution.

  • Drive issue identification and root cause resolution for development, launch, and field concerns related to fuel and EV brake line content.

  • Develop and manage plans, priorities, and resource allocation for your team to meet program milestones and functional objectives.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, leading staffing, performance management, and career development activities.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement, advancing methods, standards, and best practices for fuel and EV brake line systems.

  • Regularly communicate status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners, exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of automotive engineering experience, with meaningful exposure to fuel systems, brake systems, underbody/chassis systems, or similar.

  • Proven experience with engineering release, system integration, and validation within a structured vehicle development process (e.g., GVDP or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including leading engineers, setting direction, and driving accountability for results.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and present to leadership.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or an MBA with a technical focus.

  • Direct design/release experience in fuel systems, fuel lines, brake lines, or EV brake systems, including relevant regulations and standards.

  • Experience supporting multiple global vehicle architectures and collaborating closely with manufacturing plants and suppliers.

  • Familiarity with GM-specific processes, tools, and standards (e.g., GVDP, engineering release systems, GMWs).

  • Demonstrated success in building and developing high-performing teams in a technical environment.

  • Experience using data, analytics, or digital tools to enhance engineering efficiency and quality.
