The Senior Engineering Data Management Specialist is responsible for the governance, quality, and usability of engineering data within Mentor Capital and Siemens NX. This role serves as the system data steward and librarian, ensuring engineering libraries, templates, and released data are accurate, consistent, and aligned to defined standards.

The position enables engineering efficiency, design reuse, and release quality by preventing data duplication, enforcing data discipline, and improving cross-system alignment between ECAD and MCAD environments. The role directly supports cost reduction, improved e-FTQ, and warranty prevention by strengthening engineering data integrity across the product lifecycle.

What You’ll Do:

Engineering Data Governance

  • Maintain and enforce data standards including naming conventions, attributes, classifications, revisions, and lifecycle states
  • Ensure alignment between ECAD (Capital) and MCAD (NX) data structures and release intent
  • Act as the single point of accountability for engineering data quality within assigned scope

Library and Content Management

  • Create, maintain, and govern approved libraries, templates, symbols, models, and reusable design content
  • Prevent uncontrolled or duplicate content from entering production libraries
  • Manage part status, obsolescence, supersession, and historical traceability
  • Support reuse strategies by enabling engineers to easily find and trust approved content

Data Quality and Release Support

  • Monitor engineering data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency
  • Support release readiness by validating attributes, revisions, and lifecycle states
  • Identify recurring data issues that contribute to rework, plant issues, or warranty concerns
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to resolve systemic data gaps

Process Enablement and Continuous Improvement

  • Support and improve workflows related to Capital and NX data usage
  • Develop and maintain standard work, job aids, and training materials
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data-related questions (non-IT support)
  • Lead improvements to data governance models, standards, and cross-functional processes

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in an engineering data, CAD, or PLM-controlled environment
  • Familiarity with Mentor Capital and/or Siemens NX
  • 5 years of experience in Library/ Data Management
  • 2 years of dedicated experience working with Mentor Capital or Zuken
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex data structures
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with wire harness or electrical system design data
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
  • Background in data governance, configuration management, or library management
  • Experience developing standards, processes, or training materials
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities
