Descripción
At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.
Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
The Role:
Virtual engineering is a key enabler to achieving industry leading speed, built-in quality, and new product throughput. The Propulsion Virtual Engineering team supports analysis of all propulsion systems and subsystems ranging from the Advanced Engineering to the Production phases of development. We are looking for energetic candidates who love to learn fast and lead virtual engineering projects. In addition, initiative, creativity, decision making, project management, and the ability to clearly and concisely provide technical direction while working with multiple functional groups are all qualities we are seeking in the candidates for our team.
The System Virtual Performance Integration Manager (VPIM) is responsible for coordinating all propulsion system analysis activity for a product program and acts as the single point contact to the program chief engineer for propulsion system analysis. This is a new role which is being implemented to increase analysis focus on complete propulsion system performance and vehicle integration. The system VPIM will work closely with the high voltage battery, drive unit, engine, and/or transmissions VPIMs to review/approve propulsion sub-system analysis plans as they relate to the propulsion system plan. Key areas of focus for the system VPIM will include drive cycle and high voltage bus analyses, as well as thermal and charging systems architecture analyses.
What You'll Do:
-
Work with product team leadership to develop and maintain analysis plans (A-Plan) with timing to appropriately support product content changes of each build phase for all assigned electrification programs.
-
Initiate analysis request forms (ARF) for all planned work.
-
Identify, acquire, and balance analysis resources to meet A-Plan requirements, walk-up work, and capability development. Negotiate timing for active analysis projects as necessary.
-
Generate and maintain virtual design reviews and analysis performance metric results for each A-Plan.
-
Support the development of budget and headcount targets with workload projections.
-
Act as single point contact for basic propulsion system architecture / program specific data for the New Products Engineering team.
-
Coordinate cross-functional teams within the department to solve break-fix, product performance, and quality issues; inform Vertical Team and Analysis Staff of current status.
-
Balance workload and resources working with other propulsion VPIM.
-
Interface with vehicle VPIM to co-ordinate 2-way deliverables and resolve propulsion related program issues.
-
Assist with harmonizing process across engine, transmission and electrification sectors.
