As a Press and Automation Manufacturing Engineer, you will help design, implement, and optimize the press and automation systems that support our stamping operations. In this role, you will work on innovative manufacturing solutions that improve safety, quality, throughput, and reliability across our facilities.
You will be responsible for developing and validating engineering solutions, identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement, and supporting the effective use of equipment, tooling, materials, and personnel. This role requires strong technical judgment, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to work across a broad range of mechanical and manufacturing systems.
You will also partner closely with engineering, suppliers, plant teams, controls engineers, and IT teams to deliver projects from concept through implementation. In addition to leading technical work, you may provide direction to other engineers or engineering support personnel and support work being performed at supplier build shops and stamping facilities.
What You’ll Do

Specify, procure, develop, integrate, and validate press and automation system solutions for stamping plants

Perform design analysis of mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment

Partner with controls engineering, IT, suppliers, and plant teams to define requirements and support system integration

Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall performance

Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to press and automation system issues

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving equipment, machinery, and automation systems

Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost performance

Develop and maintain technical documentation related to equipment and system design, development, and implementation

Support training for production and plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of press and automation systems

Work with internal partners and external suppliers to implement cost reduction strategies and manufacturing improvements
Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience developing and maintaining machinery and equipment in manufacturing, preferably with press and automation systems in stamping
-
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics
-
Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing methods, and equipment operation principles

Experience coordinating design and construction activities, preferably in automotive manufacturing facilities

Experience managing projects with changing production schedules, budget constraints, and multiple stakeholders

Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including MS Project
-
Experience using CAD and engineering systems such as AutoCAD, Unigraphics, SOLIDWORKS, Teamcenter, or Teamcenter Visualization

Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations

High level of integrity and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience developing and maintaining machinery and equipment in stamping, body shop, or assembly plant operations
-
Demonstrated experience developing press and automation equipment or systems
-
Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting industrial machinery or automation systems
-
Advanced study or experience in a related STEM field

Master’s degree preferred
