The Role

Join GM’s Program Plan Development Group, the team that builds and maintains the timing backbone for our vehicle and powertrain programs. In this role, you will shape and manage integrated program timing plans that enable our Program Managers and Program Execution Teams (PETs) to deliver complex programs on time and with confidence.

You will be a key partner to cross-functional leadership, using data-driven timing analysis, risk management, and standardized methods/tools to guide decision-making across the Global Development Process (GxDP).

What You’ll Do

  • Provide timing analysis and risk management insight to Program Managers and PETs, highlighting critical path issues and trade-offs.

  • Lead and maintain development of timing templates, standards, and tools for the Program Plan Development Group.

  • Work independently in a highly ambiguous environment, structuring problems, driving clarity, and proactively surfacing risks and options.

  • Utilize critical path methodology to analyze timing, identify constraints, and recommend mitigation options.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team, partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and other functions.

  • Assemble, organize, and synthesize all information relevant to assigned programs and present clear recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Perform special studies and deep-dive analyses on timing

  • Maintain regular contact with partners outside the immediate work group, building strong working relationships.

  • Establish a clear course of action to drive completion of projects with minimal oversight.

  • Coordinate input from internal/external customers to understand needs, perceptions, and timing implications.

  • Confidently work with senior management and leadership, presenting status, risks, and recommendations.

  • Keep abreast of current product, process, and tool developments in timing and program management and help the team evolve its methods and standards.

  • Actively identify new areas for learning and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.

  • 5+ years of relevant post-graduation experience in program management, planning, engineering, operations, or related field.

  • Working knowledge of Project Management methodologies (e.g., critical path, dependencies, milestones, risk management).

  • Knowledge of corporate policy and procedures and how they influence timing and approvals.

  • Experience using Momentum, GSTS, Primavera P6 or similar enterprise scheduling tools.

  • Excellent skills with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP).

  • High level of analytical ability, especially where problems are unusual, complex, or ambiguous.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple programs and stakeholders.

  • High level of confidence in presenting to large groups and senior leadership.

  • Collaborative interpersonal style and communication methods that build trust and alignment with business partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, organize, and plan effectively with others to meet mutual goals.
