The Role:
As a General Assembly Process Engineering, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedures and the ability to innovate and define new procedures in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). This role will involve training others, as well at times fulfilling a Maintenance Group Leader role.
What You’ll Do:

Responsible for the manufacturing processes and equipment for General Assembly
-
Develop and implement sufficiency plans and continuous improvement activities to meet specific uptime, tool cost, quality, and maintainability objectives
-
Responsible for all documentation of the process including Process Control Plans, Tool and Equipment Bulletins, PFMEAs, and other equipment documentation including standardized work (TISs and more)
-
Maintain compliance with all Process Control Plans, Tool and Equipment bulletins relevant to all General Assembly Equipment and Processes; Maintain all required Maximo tasking and data collection relevant to these items

Work with and support Maintenance activities, resolving equipment issues resulting in downtime of the equipment, tooling, and gages

Work with Manufacturing and Quality department in problem solving customer issues and developing short term corrective actions as well as long term irreversible solutions

Manage process-related projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment
-
Implement projects including estimating, project budget management and forecasting, development of timelines and equipment qualification
-
Investigate equipment problems and provide technical input for problem resolution

Lead maintenance skilled trades team and supervise skilled trades to cover maintenance supervisor absence

Support TIP (throughput improvement process), GMS (global manufacturing systems) and BIQ4 (built in quality) initiatives.

Utilize statistical methods for continuous improvement of plant process systems

Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, Health/safety, and housekeeping
-
High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view, make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems, and interface with support functions outside the plant as required

Maintain Error Proofing List and ensure all new or modified error proofing has passed User Acceptance Testing (UAT) requirements

Track any Maintenance related DRR losses and drive solution with breakpoints and countermeasures
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (or equivalent experience)
-
4+ years as a process engineer or related experience
-
Flexibility to rotate shifts and work weekends as a 5-6 day a week operation
-
Strong proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI and Access experience preferred
-
High level of written and oral communication skills
-
Working knowledge of all safety absolutes and policies (i.e. lockout, ESWP, etc.)

Demonstrated technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
-
Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts involving machine designs and process requirements involved in the manufacturing process

Demonstrated excellent level of analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills required to build relationships and lead team members and suppliers to solve problems and resolve issues

Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to implement GMS principles
-
Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
Preferred Qualifications:
-
6+ years as a process engineer or related experience
-
Familiarity with Fluid Fill, Glass Cell, VIN Etch, Alignment, and DVT Process Equipment
-
Familiarity with General Assembly Error Proofing Equipment (GEP/SEP/EPP)
