The Role
At General Motors, we empower Product Managers to solve challenging customer and business problems. We seek passionate and innovative team members who can collaborate effectively across product management, program management, design, and engineering to discover and deliver impactful solutions. We hold our teams accountable for results and seek leaders who can influence teammates, stakeholders, and executives using data and logic.
As the Staff Product Manager, AV Product Strategy, you will define and drive the long‑term strategy for GM’s next generation of automated driving experiences. Sitting within the AV Product Management organization and working across multiple next-generation programs and HMI surfaces, you will shape the portfolio vision, roadmap, and rollout strategy for AV customer experiences across vehicles and markets. You will partner closely with Product Capability, Systems Engineering, Autonomy Engineering, UX-HMI, Safety, Finance, and Marketing to synthesize customer insights, competitive intelligence, and technical and business constraints into a coherent portfolio strategy and product direction.
Acting as the voice of the customer and market across the AV organization, you will make principled tradeoffs, identify long‑term bets, and ensure our roadmap balances near‑term value with scalable foundations for future automated mobility experiences.
What You’ll Do
-
Own the long‑term AV product and portfolio vision and integrated roadmap for customer‑facing automated driving and HMI experiences across multiple vehicle programs, balancing customer value, safety, technical constraints, and business outcomes.
-
Lead AV portfolio and vehicle rollout planning, including trim/feature packaging, market and segment targeting, and configuration strategy in partnership with Product Capability, Marketing, and Finance.
-
Act as the voice of the customer and market in strategy, design, and engineering forums, partnering with Systems Engineering, Autonomy, and UX‑HMI to ensure the portfolio is technically grounded and delivers intuitive, trust‑building eyes‑off experiences over time.
-
Define and monitor portfolio‑level success metrics (e.g., feature adoption, attach and take rates, customer trust and satisfaction, safety leading indicators, incident/complaint rates) and lead AV product portfolio reviews and decision forums with senior leaders to drive clear tradeoffs, sequencing, and alignment across AV, vehicle, and commercial teams.
-
Use experimentation, user research, and data analysis (simulator, track, fleet, and in‑market) to evaluate strategic options, de‑risk new experience concepts, and refine the AV product and portfolio roadmap.
-
Drive pricing and packaging strategies for AV capabilities in partnership with Finance and Marketing, including evaluation of monetization models across vehicle lines and customer segments.
-
Shape and evangelize the AV product strategy across AV and vehicle organizations, while identifying and evaluating long‑term opportunity areas for automated driving and related services without overcommitting public roadmaps.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

5+ years of product management or closely related experience, including significant time in strategy, portfolio, or platform/product leadership roles.

-
Demonstrated experience in portfolio strategy, pricing/packaging, or market segmentation for complex, multi‑feature technology products.

-
Exceptional ability to translate highly technical autonomy and safety concepts into clear strategies, customer‑facing narratives, and crisp requirements for engineering teams.
-
Comfortable navigating regulatory ambiguity, safety tradeoffs, and evolving autonomy while making principled, data‑informed decisions.
-
Proven ability to align and influence cross‑functional partners (engineering, safety, UX, marketing, finance, operations) around a clear product strategy and set of outcomes.
