Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Tonawanda on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Controls Engineer supports manufacturing by troubleshooting electrical and controls-related issues, improving equipment performance, and helping implement reliable control solutions on the plant floor. This role works both independently and with cross-functional teams to support daily operations and continuous improvement activities. This is an off-shift position , and the selected candidate must be willing to work any shift as required.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and controls problems in manufacturing operations.

Support the design and modification of electrical control circuits and controls programs.

Perform engineering support on CNC equipment, automation systems, and robots using standard engineering software and hardware tools.

Support technical problem solving with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, and throughput.

Help implement new technology and process improvements in manufacturing.

Contribute to resolution of equipment and process issues with increasing scope and complexity.

Support and train skilled trades in controls-related troubleshooting and recovery.

Help maintain and improve electrical controls equipment reliability.

Support project installation activities with contractors and plant electricians.

Assist with planning and execution of electrical and controls projects.
Your Skills and Abilities ( Required Qualifications):
-
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent technical experience.
-
1+ years of experience in industrial controls, manufacturing automation, or related hands-on technical work. (Relevant co-op, internship, military, skilled trades, or manufacturing experience may be considered).

Working knowledge of PLC and HMI programming.

Experience troubleshooting or supporting industrial electrical systems, drives, motors, servos, or VFDs.

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, or Ethernet.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Must be willing to work any shift; off-shift support is required.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge ( Preferred Qualifications):
-
Experience supporting robotics, CNC, or automated manufacturing equipment.

Exposure to Siemens, Rockwell, Fanuc, or similar control platforms.
-
Familiarity with industrial vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, or similar.
-
Experience with or exposure to Safety PLCs.
-
Experience reading electrical prints, troubleshooting controls hardware, and supporting plant-floor equipment improvements.
Compensation:
-
The expected base compensation for this role is: $80,700.00 - $109,400.00 USD Annual. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
