Descripción
Advanced Propulsion Engineering at General Motors is a rapidly developing area of automotive technology. We're creating cutting edge propulsion systems that provide industry leading energy, power, durability, and safety capability for future Vehicles (Electric and Advanced concepts). Our team is critical to achieving GM’s vision of Zero Emissions, Zero Crashes, and Zero Congestion.
In this role you'll be leading advanced technical work focus on battery structures and/or cell integration within the Advanced Battery Engineering team. We're seeking an engineer with a deep understanding of body structure system fundamentals or Battery Cell / Module fundaments, and who has experience with component design for highly integrated systems. This person will engage with counterparts for battery cell, electrical, module, and thermal, as well as interface to architects and systems engineers for body structures, battery pack, and safety teams.
Responsibilities:
For new concepts and ideas, establish fundamental learnings and develop designs through advanced technology work (ATW). Lead the initial creation and development of Battery Module designs through the Advanced Technical Work (ATW) Phase. Understand Module design solutions and trade-offs with regards to the Battery Requirements and Propulsion System Requirements Be the project technical lead for advanced battery / propulsion structures developing new manufacturable designs to achieve required vehicle structural performance Engage with AVD for support on body structure integration, battery systems, and safety systems engineers to define battery component structural requirements for proposed new programs For each new program, identify the scope of battery structure designs and technologies to be assessed and developed from Advanced Technology Work (ATW) to the Balanced Architecture (BA) phase. Engage with body structures and battery module engineers to ensure alignment on component requirements and integration strategies, supporting requirements rolled down from the architecture and systems teams. Partner with the Virtual Design, Development, and Validation (VDDV) analysis organization on tools for early assessment of battery structure performance, used to establish the body systems architecture for each program. At the project end gate, support the assigned implementation teams as designs are sourced and launched into production.
