About The Role:
Join an enthusiastic and cutting-edge team here at General Motors in the Automated Driving Performance HIL team! ADAS is a rapidly developing domain, deploying multiple new features, subsystems and sensing systems to the vehicle, and a key part of GM’s Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, Zero Congestion vision. This is a great opportunity to join our team as a Software Engineer - Automated Driving Performance HIL Infrastructure !
Our group is responsible for a simulation toolchain used to evaluate the vehicle level performance of ADAS control features. The toolchain is anchored in a realistic 3D virtual environment, and represents sensors, physical vehicle systems, and control systems utilizing a variety of hardware (HiL) configurations running in real-time.
You’ll partner with software, capability, and program execution teams to move their testing from prototype vehicles to the virtual domain, working on features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, SuperCruise lane centering and more.
This role involves simulation capability and toolchain development as well as some program execution support as related to ensuring the team delivers results on time and with quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create & integrate models, software and hardware into our simulation infrastructure:
- These can include Simulink models to represent consumed serial data, 3d virtual road network and traffic scenarios, Carsim, dSPACE ASM & other plant models to represent the vehicle’s physical systems, and sensor models used by the ADAS controller
- Manage hardware-in-the-loop simulators (dSPACE, etc.) to support customers’ automated driving control code development and validation objectives
- Partner with the ADAS community to identify new opportunities to utilize simulation, decreasing reliance on physical test properties
- Advance the development of the core cosimulation infrastructure. Scout new technology & methods for opportunities to improve system capability, efficiency and robustness
- Actively foster a collaborative and productive work environment
Required Qualifications:
- 7yrs+ of experience in ADAS, Active Safety, and/or AV HIL simulation
- Hardware in the loop control system simulation experience with dSPACE HiL
- Experience with dSPACE software including ASM, Aurelion, SensorSim, AutomationDesk, ConfigurationDesk, MotionDesk, ModelDesk, and ControlDesk
- Sensor modeling software experience with dSpace ASM/Aurelion and CarSim, and Vires VTD

- 2yrs+ of experience integrating and validating component ADAS ECU HiL test platforms
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying HiL systems for the testing of ADAS features including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and Super Cruise on both ADAS component and subsystem HiL test platforms.
- Experience with HiL development and integration at an automotive OEM.
- Experience developing scalable HiL architectures.
- Experience with real-time plant modeling in the dSPACE ASM or CarSim HiL environment.
