Job Description
The Indirect Material Leader is responsible for supporting plant operations by ensuring indirect material requirements are fulfilled for Maintenance, Facilities, and Manufacturing Engineering while managing inventory levels to agreed targets. This role will have a strong focus on execution, team oversight, process discipline, and timely resolution of plant support needs. In this role, the successful candidate will lead day-to-day indirect materials operations, lead third-party and union team members, manage workflow within established processes, and partner across plant functions to maintain material availability.
What You’ll Do

Lead daily indirect materials execution for crib and point-of-use stocked materials in support of plant operations.

Create and approve purchase requests and help ensure purchase order requirements are received and delivered on time.

Manage incoming supply against stock requirements and communicate material risks, shortages, and expedite needs with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Facilities teams.

Support indirect material part setup and maintenance activities, including lead times, safety stock, standard packaging, and new part extensions for the plant.

Work with plant teams, WRA, Share-the-Spare, and suppliers to reduce unnecessary new buys and improve use of excess, repairable, or available parts.

Lead monthly continuous improvement work across the parts portfolio, including inventory optimization, over-max reduction, obsolete material management, and root cause analysis.

Supervise represented union hourly employees and third-party resources as applicable, including work coordination, training, coaching, timekeeping support, and day-to-day issue resolution.

Support a safe, organized, and compliant work environment through audits, housekeeping, safety evaluations, and adherence to internal controls and standard processes.

Drive cost, quality, and responsiveness performance by supporting budget targets, cycle count accuracy, stock-out analysis, FIFO compliance, and plant issue response.

Use data, systems, and AI-enabled tools to improve visibility, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities

Coordinate activities for crib attendants and indirect receiving personnel.

Support launch and end-of-life material planning with Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering teams.

Review invoice and pricing discrepancies in partnership with Accounting.

Provide off-shift and weekend support for critical plant issues and ensure coverage planning when away from the business.

Promote strong labor relations and work within the local labor agreement.

Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of relevant experience.

Successfully obtained a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience supporting indirect materials operations in a plant or manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with indirect materials policies, BDPs, operational excellence expectations, and results-driven execution.

Experience leading contractors, represented hourly employees, or third-party resources.
-
Ability to work within established procedures while making sound day-to-day operational decisions and following issues through resolution.

Strong communication and collaboration skills across plant functions and leadership levels.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with SAP and/or Maximo.

Experience with Kronos.
-
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel capabilities such as v-lookups and pivot tables.

Experience with Power BI, Glean, Copilot, and Slack.
-
Strong organizational skills, project management capability, and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.

Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as onsite 5 days a week. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $76,100.00 to $114,300.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
