Assistant Manager, Captured Test Fleet - Company Vehicle Operations is responsible for leading the planning and execution of Captured Test Fleet programs and retrofit of Manufacturing Validation Build Saleable vehicles. This role owns day-to-day fleet operations, provides leadership and coordination across the CTF team, and drives cross-functional communication and issue resolution to support vehicle readiness, quality actions, and business priorities.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead all pre-delivery processes required for incoming vehicles and ensure vehicles are assigned, prioritized, and delivered to users in alignment with program team and business needs.
- Oversee day-to-day Captured Test Fleet operations, including vehicle usage planning, readiness tracking, fleet disposition decisions, and execution of changes required to support program timing and operational objectives.
- Provide leadership, direction, and coordination across CTF support roles and partner teams, including onboarding support, work prioritization, and follow-through on team deliverables.
- Serve as the escalation point for operational, quality, and retrofit issues on incoming and in-service vehicles, driving timely resolution with engineering, program quality, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Review retrofit worksheets for completeness, validate repair direction, and ensure the retrofit repair matrix and related tracking tools are maintained and kept current.
- Act as a primary point of contact for retrofit execution, coordinating technicians, parts, materials, and support functions to remove barriers and maintain execution timing.
- Manage budget-related activities for the Captured Test Fleet operation, including tracking spend, monitoring invoices, coordinating invoice processing, and supporting accurate financial reporting and follow-up.
- Support executive vehicle needs and special requests, coordinating vehicle readiness, timing, communications, and issue resolution to ensure a high level of service and responsiveness.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to manage vehicle quality concerns, issue replication, software exposure, and required retrofit actions prior to reassignment or auction.
- Communicate fleet status, priorities, risks, and action plans clearly across global stakeholders, and support decision-making through strong organization, follow-up, and operational judgment.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to align multiple stakeholders and drive execution through others.
- Strong automotive knowledge related to vehicle function, software, parts, assembly, repair, and quality issue resolution.
- Understanding of the Global Vehicle Development Process and how Captured Test Fleet activities support launch quality and customer readiness.
- High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, quality, suppliers, and field partners.
- Strong project management, planning, organizational, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to escalate issues, coordinate actions, and provide clear direction across teams.
Education and Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree, with 3+ years industry experience.
- Knowledge of Company Vehicle Operations programs, policies, and procedures, including Captured Test Fleet requirements and driver/use restrictions.
- Experience with GM systems such as eCVMS, Global Warranty, VTIMS, SPS, and GIMS.
- Familiarity with ONS reporting and vehicle/fleet tracking tools.
- Experience with EV charging and vehicle technology.
- Experience leading cross-functional operational work, balancing fleet execution with stakeholder communication and issue management.
- Experience being an hourly supervisor.
Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren Mi three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
