The Role
The Senior Global Commodity Manager will lead the global strategy for critical commodities, driving cost competitiveness, supply resilience, and innovation across a dynamic, multi-tier network. Your decisions will shape the future of mobility and electrification worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to influence industry standards, develop strategic supplier partnerships, and lead initiatives that transform the industry.
The Senior Global Commodity Manager is responsible for conducting purchasing activities to support sourcing, contract and supplier management activities in line with departmental strategy and objectives. As a leader, you will provide technical guidance to the team for successful execution of commodity strategies for our indirect or direct commodities as well as lead the development of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans. You will also be responsible for leading a team, fostering employee development and training, driving performance management, and maintaining an efficient organizational structure.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Plan and commodity strategy
- Lead business plan/tactics to reach overall global targets on a day-to-day basis
- Lead global teams in all regions in developing commodity strategies and sourcing recommendations for specified commodity, considering regional specifics this also includes early Supplier Engagement and Strategic Sourcing
- Oversee, monitor and coach employees in different locations and build effective global team
- Collaborate with Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Legal, Corporate Development and other internal partners to develop procurement strategies, clarify prerequisites and to drive cost reduction
- Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e. cost models, benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.
- Responsible for managing the overall procurement activities, development of sourcing strategy, negotiation of contracts and execution of budget from cradle to grave
- Develop and execute capacity assessment of components to match GM demand with supplier capacity, with a focus on compliance requirements (FTAs, IRA, as applicable)
- Provide technical and business process guidance to the team for successful execution of programs
- Lead on the development of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans.
- Support for the organization's business strategies with a direct impact on business and function overall results.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of experience in global purchasing or procurement
- Proven track record of directly leading teams with a minimum of 4-5 people, driving results, and personal accountability with oneself and team
- Demonstrated Negotiation, Supplier Management, Team Orientation, Informative Communication and Analytical Thinking Skills
- Strategic Orientation, willingness to learn, adapt & be agile, comfort in challenging norms, dealing with ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams as well as mentor, motivate and elicit work output from peers and other team members
- Ability to travel 20-30% of the time Domestically + Internationally (several suppliers physically located overseas), flexibility to support regular meetings early mornings or evening (North America time).
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience Developing and Negotiating Contracts, including drafting amending legal documents as well as investment/project financing.
- High level understanding of:
- Metal and raw materials, market indexation, indices, etc.
- Corporate financing, Acquisition/Mergers/JV and Project funding activities
- Knowledge of SAP
- Developed skillset with respect to data management tools: Power BI, Excel, TMS, AI, etc.
- Finance and Cost Engineering experience
- Strategic planning and execution
- Negotiation skills
