GM Advanced Design Europe is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Clay Sculptor to lead physical modelling projects in our advanced design studio based in Leamington Spa, UK. This role is crucial for translating 2D design concepts into high-quality 3D clay models, ensuring our vehicles embody the GM brand essence.
Job Responsibilities

Lead advanced clay sculpting projects from sketch through to a highly realized full size 3D form.

Translate 2D sketches, renderings, and digital data into precise and aesthetically refined 3D clay models for various vehicle programs.

Understand and participate in all aspects of the clay sculpting process, creative hand sculpting, programming for mill, milling, scanning, dynoc and preparing models for paint.

Collaborate closely with design, digital sculpting and studio engineering teams to ensure design intent and feasibility are met.

Ensure all sculpted models accurately capture and communicate the GM brand essence and design philosophy.

Present sculpted models and design iterations to various stakeholders, effectively communicating design intent and rationale.

Manage project timelines and resources effectively to meet critical design milestones.

Maintain organized project documentation and share information efficiently.

Stay up to date and compliant with health and safety tasks within the studio and ensure that health and safety is always at the forefront of every task we undertake.

Carry out basic operations tasks. E.g. moving and setting up models for review.
Job Qualifications
-
Proven experience as a Senior Clay Sculptor or Senior Clay Modeler within automotive or a related industry.

Exceptional ability to translate 2D design concepts into accurate and expressive 3D clay models.

Strong proficiency in all aspects of clay sculpting; Programming for mill, milling, scanning, creative hand sculpting.

Expertise in capturing and translating brand essence into physical forms.

Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft SharePoint.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of high-quality clay models completed.

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Fine Arts, and/or 10 years+ experience within an Automotive Design OEM studio as a Clay Sculptor.
