Position Overview
The Senior Associate, AV Corporate Development & Strategy supports the development and execution of General Motors' long-term Autonomous Vehicle (AV) strategy and Corporate Development activities. This role helps evaluate strategic partnerships, investments, acquisitions, and other growth opportunities that accelerate GM's AV roadmap, strengthen competitive positioning, and create long-term enterprise value.
Working closely with AV Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal and other functions, this individual conducts rigorous strategic, market, financial, and competitive analyses to support investment decisions, partnership evaluations, and broader strategic initiatives. The role translates complex information into actionable insights, executive-ready materials, and decision frameworks that enable informed decision-making across GM
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Development, Market Intelligence & Opportunity Assessment
- Support evaluation of strategic partnerships, investments, acquisitions, and other transactions that advance GM's AV objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis of market trends, competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, and ecosystem developments to identify potential opportunities and risks.
- Assess strategic fit, business value, and competitive implications of external opportunities.
- Help maintain visibility into key industry participants, potential partners, suppliers, startups, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
Strategic Analysis & Transaction Support
- Support assessment of strategic alternatives, including build, buy, and partner options, through structured market, financial, technical, and business analyses.
- Lead or assist in development of business cases, diligence materials, recommendations, transaction-related analyses, and support engagement and negotiation with external counterparties.
- Coordinate and support cross-functional evaluations involving Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and other internal and external stakeholders, applying strong project and stakeholder management skills to drive alignment and execution.
Executive Decision Support & Strategic Communication
- Translate complex technical, financial, and market information into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, decision frameworks, and supporting analyses for leadership reviews and strategic discussions, presenting opportunities, risks and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Communicate findings effectively across technical, business, and executive audiences.
Cross-Functional Execution & Value Realization
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support execution of strategic initiatives, partnerships, and other approved opportunities.
- Help identify risks, dependencies, capability gaps, and execution considerations associated with strategic decisions.
- Support integration planning, partnership governance activities, and value realization efforts where applicable.
- Track key milestones, outcomes, and learnings to inform future strategic decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years in Corporate Development, investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, finance, or related fields.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate business opportunities and develop clear, fact-based recommendations.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience developing business cases and assessing strategic, commercial, and investment-related tradeoffs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders in a matrixed environment, applying strong project management skills to drive outcomes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex information into concise executive-level recommendations and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s of Business Administration or similar advanced degree
- Experience in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, AI, robotics, software-enabled hardware, or other emerging technology sectors.
- Understanding of automotive industry dynamics, technology ecosystems, and value chain relationships.
Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws.
The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
- The salary range for this role is $106,000 - $163,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
