About The Role:

Lead thermal software and controls testing on HIL benches, ensuring robust validation of thermal controllers, software releases, system integrations, and simulated vehicle operating conditions. The role partners closely with software, controls, calibration, validation, modeling, automation, program, and supplier teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HIL bench bring-up, checkout, software patch testing, functional verification, controller validation, and system integration testing for thermal systems, including HVAC, and related subsystems.
• Develop and maintain HIL test cases from system requirements and co-simulation scenarios, including communication, diagnostics, flashing, sensors, actuators, circuit diagnostics, and thermal functional verification. Define test inputs, expected behavior, calibration needs, and acceptance criteria.
• Support HIL automation and CI/CD workflows, including Jenkins-based execution, reporting, traceability, and management of scripts, configurations, and software packages.
• Operate and troubleshoot dSPACE HIL and ControlDesk environments. Perform signal monitoring, stimulation, fault injection, and controller-response verification; isolate bench, I/O, network, real-time simulation, and controller-integration issues before escalation.
• Analyze plant-model inputs and outputs, simulated sensors and actuators, signal flow, HIL I/O, controller behavior, and vehicle-network responses. Support simulation-fidelity assessments and model updates.
• Perform ECU flashing, software deployment, patch validation, rollback, recovery, and software restoration. Support DoIP flashing and integration across thermal and vehicle controllers.
• Support calibration and engineering-tool activities using INCA, Vehicle Spy, ControlDesk, Lauterbach, ETK/eHOOK, and diagnostic tools. Validate CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, DoIP, and rest-bus communications, including DTCs, wake-up behavior, propulsion modes, and vehicle-state transitions.
• Own test planning, execution, issue tracking, defect investigation, risk assessment, status reporting, and technical coordination. Provide training and knowledge transfer for HIL operation, test execution, flashing, calibration tools, and automation workflows.
• Lead HIL hardware-asset planning and readiness tracking, coordinating procurement, inventory, shipping, and delivery risks with suppliers and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience developing and executing software tests in HIL, SIL, simulation, bench, or vehicle environments.
• Experience with Python scripting, test automation, CI/CD, Git, Gerrit, and Jenkins.
• Ability to read and review C/C++ and Simulink algorithms and troubleshoot embedded controller behavior.
• Experience with automotive test tools such as INCA, CANoe, Vehicle Spy, ControlDesk, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of thermal systems, automotive communication networks, functional safety, and diagnostics, including ISO 26262 and ISO 14229.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the hiring location and able to travel as required.

Preferred Experience

• dSPACE HIL and ControlDesk operation, plant-model integration, DoIP flashing, and thermal controller validation.
• Experience with EV/PHEV thermal systems, HVAC, refrigerant and coolant hardware, calibration, and vehicle-network diagnostics.
• Experience leading technical reviews, mentoring engineers, and standardizing test and automation processes.
