About the Team
The AV Systems, Sensing and Integration Team is responsible for developing, integrating, and validating cutting-edge assisted and automated driving capabilities and sensors across the entire vehicle lifecycle.
Our organization delivers hardware sensors and software from requirements, design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. We combine deep expertise in sensor hardware, perception, software, features, and vehicle systems engineering to ensure safe, reliable, and customer-delighting driving experiences.
This internship supports three technical areas:
- Optical Sensing — Develop and evaluate camera and optical-sensing technologies, including sensor performance, testing, calibration, and integration.
- Design & Release — Support engineering design, requirements development, technical documentation, and design-release process improvements for sensing systems and subsystems.
- RF Sensors & Supplier Software Integration — Support RF sensor development, hardware and software integration, supplier collaboration, testing, debugging, and issue resolution.
What You Will Do
- Develop engineering designs, including subsystems, and implement engineering changes.
- Develop requirements and subsystem technical specifications as required.
- Execute sensor-level tests on prototype vehicles.
- Leverage a unique perspective to develop and iterate design and release process improvements.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, suppliers, and integration teams to ensure performance meets specifications.
- Perform bench and laboratory testing, debug hardware issues, and document results in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Support integration, calibration, and environmental operating-domain evaluation for cameras, radars, and lidars.
- Assist with optical-sensing, RF-sensor, supplier-software, and vehicle-integration activities based on team assignment.
- Analyze test data, communicate findings, and support root-cause investigations.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong interest in hardware, ADAS sensors, computer vision, system design, simulation, embedded systems, RF systems, or related areas.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate findings clearly.
- Hands-on mindset: you enjoy building, testing, debugging, and learning through doing.
- Comfortable working in a team and managing multiple tasks toward a deliverable.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, including Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, System Design, Mechanical, Chemical, or an equivalent discipline..
- Coursework or project experience in Python, MATLAB, or embedded microcontrollers.
- Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of automotive control systems, ADAS features, sensors, electronics, optics, RF systems, or supplier software integration.
- Familiarity with model-based design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation, data acquisition, requirements, testing, or technical documentation.
- Graduating between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Intent to return to the degree program after completion of the internship.
