This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to locate in Liuzhou full time.
The Role
The SGMW P&SCM Operations Director is accountable for leading purchasing and supply chain operations to achieve business objectives, support program execution, ensure supplier readiness, and drive cost, quality, and operational performance. This role requires strong enterprise leadership, disciplined cross-functional collaboration, effective risk management, sound compliance oversight, and the ability to build organizational capability in support of both current and future business needs.
What You’ll Do
- 1. Drive Cost Competitiveness, Capacity, and Quality Performance
- Provide leadership to ensure supplier material & logistics cost, quality, timing, and operational performance for all SGMW programs.
- Drive cost reduction (material cost, packaging cost & logistics cost) and cost control for both China local & Export (CBU, CKD & SKD) business throughout the full value stream.
- Ensure supplier capacity aligns with SGMW business requirements.
- Improve future program profitability by engaging suppliers early and enabling design-to-cost solutions.
- Lead operational efficiency improvement and waste elimination initiatives.
- Strengthen supplier quality performance through disciplined execution of systems and processes, including Q+ Quality System and APQP.
- Support export programs, including Indonesia, Egypt CKD, and India.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure all the preventative process controls are in place to ensure KD shop operates with excellence
- 2. Drive Operational Performance and Launch Readiness
- Lead SGMW GPSC MOR and weekly reviews to drive transparency and alignment across SGMW, GM China, and GPSC leadership.
- Support build-to-plan execution and ensure successful launch of new and enhanced products with the required quality and volume.
- Deliver operational performance results aligned with joint venture business objectives and enterprise priorities.
- Promote a preventive and execution-focused culture to minimize supply chain risk and improve business continuity.
- Ensure timely identification, escalation, and resolution of supplier-related issues through disciplined operating rhythms and cross-functional engagement.
- 3. Lead initiatives to enable SGMW exports to GM Overseas Markets
- Establish KD workshop capabilities with the appropriate bill of process, quality controls, and program management discipline.
- Improve processes and strengthen team capability to support export and localization requirements.
- Lead program purchasing management and support KD and localization initiatives across overseas markets.
- 4. Strengthen Internal and External Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support long-term business success.
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration and foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance.
- Ensure adherence to internal control and compliance requirements.
- Drive automation strategies and share SGMW best practices across the broader GM organization.
- 5. Lead, Develop, and Retain Talent
- Drive employee engagement, capability building, and organizational development.
- Recognize and develop team talent to support current and future business needs.
- Manage the development of team and support their effectiveness within the organization.
- 6. Champion Safety
- Strengthen safety culture internally and across suppliers and service providers.
- Promote safe operating practices and reinforce accountability for safety performance.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Knowledge and Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing, supply chain, logistics and supplier quality practices and procedures.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and material flow.
- Sound knowledge of people management principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and standard business applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of broader business operations and interdependencies.

- Proven ability to motivate teams and drive strong performance outcomes.

- 10+ years of leadership experience in purchasing, supply chain, supplier quality, or related operations management roles.
