The role:
The Senior Labor Relations Specialist role is critical to ensuring operational stability, legal compliance, and the effective management of relationships among the company, employees, and union representatives. The position requires solid expertise in labor law, conflict resolution, collective bargaining, and labor risk management—capabilities that are typically developed through 6 to 8 years of professional experience.
The increasing complexity of today’s labor environment requires a professional who can act strategically and proactively to minimize legal exposure, ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), support union negotiations, and provide specialized guidance to business leaders. The role also contributes to maintaining a positive work environment, strengthening relationships with employee representatives, and ensuring business continuity.
What you will do?
Full command of the Mexican Federal Labor Law, including recent reforms (especially the 2019 labor reform) and current labor court criteria.
• Solid knowledge of the new labor justice model.
• Proven ability to strategically negotiate collective bargaining agreements, balancing operational viability with union demands.
• Preventive relationship-building with union committees to foster dialogue and prevent labor disputes.
• Deep experience in contract legitimization and union recognition processes under the new regulatory framework.
• Prevention and resolution of collective labor conflicts.
• Development of scenario plans and recommendation of negotiation strategies, influencing senior leadership on viable options within the labor strategy.
• Alignment of key messages for communication with the union.
• Assessment of risk versus cost impact.
• Influence on internal policy changes to prevent recurrence of issues or future labor risk.
• Assessment of labor impacts, advising HR and Operations on communication and execution strategies; negotiation of conditions with the union when necessary.
• Work in parallel with the LR team to maintain a healthy and controlled work climate.
• Alignment and training of leadership on labor topics.
• Generation of relevant labor data and insights for decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience in similar roles: +6 years of experience in labor relations roles in global manufacturing companies.
• Bachelor's Degree: required
• English level: advanced professional.
• Available to work offshift and overtime as it's required.
• Strong communication skills, conflict resolutions and leadership to lead complex situations to the success of the organization.
