The Role
This internship offers the opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives supporting some of GM’s most important business and government customers. You will gain hands-on experience in sales operations, forecasting, order management, product strategy, and business analytics while working alongside experienced professionals across the enterprise.
The Team
The GM Fleet team supports some of GM’s most important commercial and government customers by connecting customer needs with the vehicles, products, and services that keep their businesses moving. Our work spans sales operations, demand forecasting, order management, product strategy, and business analytics—helping translate market and customer insights into clear plans and strong execution. As part of this collaborative, cross-functional team, interns work alongside experienced professionals across the enterprise to solve real business problems, improve visibility into fleet demand, and help shape the future of GM’s fleet business.
What You’ll Do
As a GM Sales Operations Intern, you will play a key role in supporting enterprise-level strategic initiatives across our fleet and rental business.
- Collaborate with Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac teams to improve vehicle content, packaging, and competitiveness for fleet and rental customers.
- Support analysis to improve order-to-delivery timing, production alignment, and customer fulfillment.
- Help develop tools, reporting, and insights that support fleet sales, forecasting, order management, and pricing strategy.
- Analyze sales, order, production, and market data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Participate in ongoing efforts to align vehicle offerings with market demand, customer feedback, and competitive activity.
- Support scenario planning and what-if analyses related to allocation, inventory, pricing, incentives, and customer requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Sales, Marketing, Product, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Brand teams—to advance business priorities.
- Assist with tracking key performance indicators and preparing regular business reviews.
- Contribute to presentations and executive updates that translate analysis into clear recommendations and guide strategic decision-making.
- Help document processes, identify opportunities for simplification, and recommend improvements to operational workflows.
- Support special projects that strengthen GM Fleet’s ability to serve business and government customers.
- Gain exposure to the full vehicle lifecycle, from product planning and order entry through production, delivery, and customer support.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, supply chain, marketing, engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
- Must be graduating between December 2027 - June 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the 12 week internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical background and interest in marketing, sales, customer experience, or business technology.
- Ability to listen carefully and engage others in meaningful dialogue.
- Self-directed work ethic and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Curiosity about the automotive industry, fleet sales, mobility solutions, and customer-focused business strategy
- Comfort working with data and presenting findings to a range of audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization or reporting tools is a plus.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Start Date
- Start dates for our Summer 2027 internships are May 24th and June 14th of 2027
Work Location
- Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan - at three times per week, at minimum.
GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2027 Student Program - to help facilitate administration of relocation benefits, please apply using the permanent address you would move from.
