Lansing Grand River Assembly is General Motors' rear- and all-wheel-drive luxury car plant in downtown Lansing, Michigan. The plant covers about 3.4 million sq ft on 111 acres. It includes body, paint, general assembly, a central utilities complex, and an integrated stamping plant. LGR is a core Cadillac performance and premium sedan hub for GM and has received significant investments over the last decade for new Cadillac sedans and the sixth‑gen Camaro.
LGR currently produces the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, including V‑Series and Blackwing high‑performance variants, for global markets. The plant produces vehicles 10 hours a day, four days a week on One shift. GM has recently announced that LGR will build the next generation CT5 (A2-2).
The Role:
The Lead Controls Engineer be able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision and ME Controls Lead Engineer. Skilled in PLC, HMI, Robot, Weld, Torque and Test control systems; Manufacturing Plant Floor Systems like Production Monitoring, Routing & Tracking and Error Proofing, Torque and Weld Monitoring; Equipment, tooling, facilities, and alternatives. Knowledgeable in sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel. You will be responsible for leading controls engineering activities for the smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems at Lansing Grand River Assembly.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities):

You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes

You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area

Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
-
You will provide technical support for specific plant operations
-
You will interact on a regular basis with design, product and manufacturing engineering staffs
-
Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors
-
You will evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
-
You will handle engineering projects with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs.

Manage a salaried teams of engineers.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent experience
-
5+ years of experience in Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment with mechanical experience.

Leadership skills managing project experience.
-
Provide technical support directly to manufacturing team.
-
Ability to work through all 3 shifts (when needed)
-
Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
-
Ability to travel 10% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and internationally.

Ability to multi-task, supporting several projects with various priority levels.

Well-developed oral and written communication skills
-
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Master Degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience managing salaried teams of Engineers

Experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Maintenance.

Ability to read equipment drawings.

Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.

Experience working in a union environment.

Equipment troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting Robotics Automation, Rockwell Drives and Allen Bradley PLC.
Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing, MI on a full-time basis.
