The GMI FP&A long-term team supports the GM International region and drives impact through the annual budget and long-term planning process, in addition to various special studies related to risk management, business performance analysis, competitive benchmarking, cost analysis and various ad-hoc strategic projects. Our team is looking for an experienced analyst that is passionate about GM’s global business and wants to support our diverse markets and drive improved financial insights and results.
Responsibilities
- Annual Budget Process : partner with regional and functional teams to develop and implement budgets for the upcoming fiscal year. Provides insights on sales forecasts, expense estimates and other key assumptions influencing the budget development
- Long-term planning : involved in developing the long-term strategy that is aligned with organizational goals. Analyzes market trends, industry dynamics and internal factors influencing future growth prospects. Identifies potentials risks and opportunities, providing insights to senior management.
- Strategic studies: develop strategy study topics to drive meaningful impact within GMI and support initiatives from Regional CFO & President of Global Markets
- Business performance analysis : evaluates business performance metrics, identifying areas of improvement and opportunity. Utilizes analytical tools and techniques to assess operational efficiency, productivity and profitability. Provides recommendations to optimize business operations based on findings.
- Cost Analysis : Examines costs associated with different products, departments, or manufacturing processes. Identifies areas of excessive spending, waste, or inefficiencies. Recommends cost reduction measures and process improvements to enhance profitability.
- Finance System Management : Assists in managing and updating the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise system used for financial consolidation and reporting. Ensures data integrity and accuracy within the system.
- Develop strong relationships with corporate FP&A, CFO staff/regional partners, and Controllership to ensure strong, consistent communication across teams; facilitate knowledge sharing as needed
Desired Skills
- Technical Analysis – Ability to perform detailed analysis and consolidation with Hyperion system data (actuals variances, forecast data, EBIT bridges, etc.)
- Self-Starter Mindset – Works independently to solve challenges, innovate on reporting styles, and provide new insights for leadership to drive business success
- Leadership Communication & Storytelling – Comfortable presenting to senior leadership & can distil complicated regional inputs into key messages for operating forums
- Strategic/Big Picture Orientation – Ability to develop intuition on key items impacting region
- Analytical & Problem Solving - Ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
- Solid foundational knowledge of EBIT finance principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
- 3+ Years FP&A Experience
Ideal Additional Qualifications
- Previous system experience with Hyperion Essbase excel data analysis and submission
- Knowledge of GM’s product/platform portfolio
Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren, Mi three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
