The Role -

This role is responsible for the planning, development, launch and continuous improvement of General Assembly End-of-Line (EOL) test and validation systems for current and future programs, with a strong focus on Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) architectures (VIP/SDV 1.0/2.0, Ultifi, VaaT) and also local electrical architecture in China JV. The GA EOL Engineer will lead cross-functional teams through equipment specification, integration, commissioning and problem‑solving, ensuring robust vehicle quality and EOL throughput for both brownfield and greenfield plants.

What You’ll Do -

  • Governance the technical definition, specification and implementation of GA EOL test systems (diagnostics, flash programming, dynamic vehicle test, water test, alignment/headlamp aim, ADAS/SDV feature checks, etc.) for new and running vehicle programs in China JV.
  • Familiar with EOL test coverage and logic for SDV functions (connectivity, OTA readiness, central compute, aggregators, ADAS, infotainment, cybersecurity-related checks) in coordination with Electrical & SDV, Quality, Product Engineering and IT.
  • Support GA EOL process design for export programs in new greenfield or major retool projects: layout, material and vehicle flow, station content, ergonomics, capacity and buffer strategy.
  • Benchmark industry trends in SDV, E/E architectures, vehicle diagnostics and EOL testing; introduce best practices, new technologies and digital tools into GA EOL.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers in China JV plant sites.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.

More than 10 years working experience in automotive vehicle plants, with at least 5 years in General Assembly and/or EOL test engineering roles.

Proven experience leading GA EOL engineering for multiple vehicle programs, including responsibility for test strategy, equipment specification, buy‑off and launch support.

Solid understanding of vehicle electrical systems, diagnostics and communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and their impact on plant EOL testing, with familiarity in both China local electrical architecture and global VIP platform.

Demonstrated familiarity with Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) concepts and industry trends (central compute, zonal/aggregator architectures, OTA, connected services) and how they affect GA/EOL process and tooling.

Direct experience in greenfield or major brownfield plant build (new plant start-up, large-scale retool, new GA/EOL line installation), including layout, ramp-up and stabilization.

Program launch experience on overseas programs and/or programs led from China as Global Development Center (GDC) , with proven ability to work across regions, cultures and time zones.

Strong cross-functional leadership skills; able to align Product Engineering, Quality, SDV/Electrical, IT, suppliers and plant teams to deliver common EOL objectives.

Good communication skills in English and Chinese (written and spoken); able to write clear technical specifications and present to management.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with GM Global B / VIP, GBFTT or equivalent OEM systems for vehicle flash and test.
  • Hands-on experience with MES/EOL systems, diagnostics tools and plant IT integration (SPD, GTS or similar), including data collection and analytics for EOL KPIs.
  • Experience leading or mentoring cross-site engineering teams and supporting multiple plants in a regional/global network.
