Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that

are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role
Our Model Based Product Line Engineering team is dedicated to the application and advancement of Systems Engineering across GM. We are developing leading edge data solutions, processes, and tool implementations for requirements, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and product variation management. We are seeking innovative and determined individuals to help transform and advance our company in digital engineering solutions to support the product development lifecycle.

Our team culture is focused on building an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative environment with different perspectives that all contribute to the success of developing solutions for the diverse teams and functions across GM.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and deploying data solutions for the application of requirements and requirements management and/or model-based system engineering throughout the corporation. Using your knowledge of systems engineering processes, methods, tools, and SysML you will help foster and develop a broader understanding of modeling practices across engineering domains and promote a digital engineering culture.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

MBSE Platform Deployment

  • Support the definition and deployment of a requirements management database, from solution design through production rollout.

  • Support the definition and deployment of a system architecture modeling environment

  • Define and configure the RM and system modeling data models and ontologies (requirement types, attributes, relationships, baselines, versioning).

  • Establish requirements hierarchies and traceability models aligned to system architecture, software, hardware, and regulatory needs.

  • Configure workflows, permissions, roles, and governance rules to support enterprise use.

Stakeholder & Business Alignment

  • Partner with systems engineering, software, hardware, quality, and program teams to understand requirements lifecycle needs.

  • Translate engineering processes and standards into scalable RM and system modeling configurations.

  • Facilitate and capture the future state requirements authoring, model libraries, review, approval, and change control processes.

  • Align RM deployment with organizational systems engineering and MBSE practices.

Integration & Digital Thread Enablement

  • Design and implement integrations between MBSE componentry and related tools (e.g., PLM, MBSE/SysML tools, ALM, test management).

  • Enable bidirectional traceability across requirements, architecture, design, verification, and validation artifacts.

  • Support digital thread objectives by ensuring data consistency, synchronization, and lineage.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • 5 years of experience in engineering or a related field

  • Experience in Systems Engineering methodologies or application

  • Experience using requirements management tools and their development (e.g. DOORS Next Generation), or SysML modeling tools (e.g. Rhapsody)

  • Ability to define and configure tool and process related to requirements engineering

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with DOORS Next Generation

  • Experience or familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • Ability to debug and resolve tool and process issues

  • High level of analytical ability to generalize and reason about complex problem spaces in search of solutions

  • Deals well with ambiguity

  • Initiative to reach beyond current assignment and improve the output and/or help others
