At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard - from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

As a Senior Program Manager for Data Engineering , you will lead program execution across a portfolio of high-impact initiatives within GM’s Data Engineering organization (e.g., Device Data Capture, Vehicle Data Engineering, AV Data, Customer & Marketing, Data Governance).

In this highly visible, cross-functional role, you will drive complex, large-scale software engineering programs from concept through delivery – partnering closely with engineering, product, and executive stakeholders. You will play a critical role in shaping roadmaps, establishing scalable governance models, and driving disciplined execution to deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions that power GM’s next-generation vehicles and services.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end execution of a portfolio of 2–4 complex data engineering programs, ensuring alignment to business priorities, technical strategy, and customer impact

  • Own program planning and delivery, including scope, timelines, resource planning, and sequencing of work across multiple teams

  • Drive execution rigor across programs by proactively managing dependencies, risks, and blockers, and implementing mitigation plans to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery

  • Provide clear, data-driven visibility into program health, including progress, risks, and key metrics, to stakeholders at all levels

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure strong roadmap planning (12–18 months), high-quality requirements, and effective intake and prioritization of new work

  • Embed best practices across the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, SRE, and developer experience, to improve delivery efficiency and reliability

  • Connect work across programs and domains, identifying synergies, integration points, and potential conflicts across engineering, product, and business functions

  • Champion continuous improvement by streamlining processes, enhancing execution models, and scaling best practices across teams

  • Communicate with clarity and influence, using a combination of storytelling and metrics to drive alignment and decision-making

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 3–5+ years of experience in engineering, program management, or product/program leadership, with increasing scope and ownership

  • BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience

  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional software engineering programs in enterprise environments

  • Strong ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders across technical and business domains

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a data-driven, analytical mindset

  • Clear and concise communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights

  • Deep experience with modern program management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, scaled frameworks) and tools such as Jira, Align, and Confluence

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an MBA with a technical focus

  • Experience with technologies in Automotive Manufacturing

  • Hands-on or adjacent experience with data engineering concepts such as data pipelines, data platforms, and large-scale architectures

  • Background in software development, distributed systems, or systems integration

  • Experience building or leveraging dashboards and analytics (e.g., BI tools) to drive program insights and decision-making

  • Familiarity with automotive, mobility, or other data-intensive industries
